National Security Agency (ECHELON spy system) Erects Temple to Its "god"

In the shadow of Utah’s Wasatch Range to the east and the Oquirrh Mountains to the west, in the heart of Mormon country, less than a mile from the polygamist community of  the Apostolic United Brethren, construction has begun on a new 'temple', a massive complex so large that it necessitated expanding the town’s boundaries. Once built, it will be more than five times the size of the US Capitol.

This will be a temple to information gathering, to spying on all of us, to following our every move, watching what we do, listening to what we say, and even finding ways to discover what we think.

The daily sacrifice on its altar will be AMERICAN FREEDOMS, beginning with our right to PRIVACY.

This temple will pinpoint our daily positions on the globe, detail our communications with all others, collect even the most mundane trivia about each and every one of us. We will become mere growths on the Federal government's giant Petri dish!

In addition, it will utilize a supercomputer of almost unimaginable speed to look for patterns within data and unscramble ALL codes.

This is the temple called the 'UTAH DATA CENTER', and our government is its builder and its 'god'.

Geo-spatial analysis programs linked to the National Security Agency (NSA) databases will ensure that the location of individuals who leave an electronic fingerprint through the use of a mobile phone, a credit card, a chipped passport, or any item with a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chip will be immediately known to intelligence and police agencies. There will be nowhere in the world to hide indefinitely.

Under construction on an old National Guard base in Bluffdale, Utah, this massive data storage center will be the size of 17 football fields.

The center will contain stored communications records as well as transactional data, including financial, travel, and medical information, on perhaps billions of people around the world. The center is designed to store a yottabyte of data – equivalent to 500 quintillion (500,000,000,000,000,000,000) pages of text.

James Bamford, back in March of 2012 offered an assessment of this temple, and what it means to all of us, on his website, Wired. I am not a big fan of Wired, but I am a fan of good documentation, of factual facts, of truth, at any/all cost, and Bamford delivered this time, in my unhumble opinion.

What was all the more interesting was that AFTER this article was posted, FORBES magazine did a piece to DISCREDIT Bamford, to sing the song of "conspiracy theory", to try to soothe their readers and lull them back to sleep with such naive, laughable rhetoric that I was embarrassed for Forbes.

What follows are the two articles, links to them, quotes from each.

Please go read them carefully.
Bamford has made enormous effort to offer fine documentation.

I feel that, for once, he has done us all a great favor by exposing this for what it is... A temple to the government's desire to OWN us all, to CONTROL us all, to ENSLAVE us in a web of deceit and complete ill will.

Our government FEARS US...let that motivate you to BE FEARLESS!

NSA Is Building the Country’s Biggest Spy Center

"'Rather than Bibles, prophets, and worshipers, this 'temple' will be filled with servers, computer intelligence experts, and armed guards. And instead of listening for words flowing down from heaven, these newcomers will be secretly capturing, storing, and analyzing vast quantities of words and images hurtling through the world’s telecommunications networks. In the little town of Bluffdale, Big Love and Big Brother have become uneasy neighbors.

Under construction by contractors with top-secret clearances, the blandly named Utah Data Center is being built for the National Security Agency.
A project of immense secrecy, it is the final piece in a complex puzzle assembled over the past decade.

Its purpose: to intercept, decipher, analyze, and store vast swaths of the world’s communications as they zap down from satellites and zip through the underground and undersea cables of international, foreign, and domestic networks.

The heavily fortified $2 billion center should be up and running in September 2013. Flowing through its servers and routers and stored in near-bottomless databases will be all forms of communication, including the complete contents of private emails, cell phone calls, and Google searches, as well as all sorts of personal data trails—parking receipts, travel itineraries, bookstore purchases, and other digital “pocket litter.”

It is, in some measure, the realization of the “total information awareness” program created during the first term of the Bush administration—an effort that was killed by Congress in 2003 after it caused an outcry over its potential for invading Americans’ privacy.

But “this is more than just a data center,” says one senior intelligence official who until recently was involved with the program.

The mammoth Bluffdale center will have another important and far more secret role that until now has gone unrevealed. It is also critical, he says, for breaking codes. And code-breaking is crucial, because much of the data that the center will handle—financial information, stock transactions, business deals, foreign military and diplomatic secrets, legal documents, confidential personal communications—will be heavily encrypted.

According to another top official also involved with the program, the NSA made an enormous breakthrough several years ago in its ability to cryptanalyze, or break, unfathomably complex encryption systems employed by not only governments around the world but also many average computer users in the US. The upshot, according to this official: “Everybody’s a target; everybody with communication is a target.” '"

As I said, FORBES took offense to this well-documented article, perhaps feeling that its readers would become alarmed about data-mining into their offshore accounts, etc, hmmmm?

The attempted smokescreen article left me wincing FOR them. It completely relied on the docile nature of the sheeple who read and obey.

Honestly, George Orwell in is book 1984 never imagined such a dumb-downed, apathetic, blindly obedient, gullible society such as we have today!

From FORBES:
http://www.forbes.com/sites/lorenthompson/2012/03/20/nsas-secret-data-center-is-a-threat-but-only-to-americas-enemies/

"'The real defect in all of the conspiracy theories advanced to explain intelligence-community operations is that they so misapprehend the tenor of American political culture, presuming that a divided government elected by voters who don’t trust their leaders could conceal massive illegality over a period of many years.

NSA has been dealing with that kind of willful naiveté for a long time, for instance in the outlandish charges of critics that America and its democratic allies are operating a system called Echelon that strips away any semblance of privacy from overseas telecom traffic.

It’s plausible those governments might have overreacted to the trauma of 9-11, but democracy tends to be self-correcting and countries like Australia and Canada aren’t likely to simply abandon centuries of protecting individual rights for the sake of security.

Nor is the Obama Administration.

The National Security Agency’s Utah data center is being built because the White House and Congress believe it is needed to accomplish legitimate government missions such as intelligence analysis, cryptology and cyber security.

If it posed a material threat to democratic government or the privacy rights of citizens, the project would have been stopped in its tracks a long time ago.

Not that you should avoid James Bamford’s piece in Wired — it’s full of fascinating information that seldom is available in public forums.  Just don’t take his assessment of what the data center will be doing too seriously.'"

ECHELON IS "OUTLANDISH"?
NO! ECHELON IS A PROVEN FACT!

ASK THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT WHICH DOCUMENTED ITS EXISTENCE IN A 194 PAGES PDF FILE.

READ THAT HERE:
http://www.europarl.europa.eu/sides/getDoc.do?pubRef=-//EP//NONSGML+REPORT+A5-2001-0264+0+DOC+PDF+V0//EN&language=EN

That little report concluded, much to my dismay, that...
"'Cooperation with third countries, and in particular the United States, should be maintained and, very possibly, strengthened. This does not necessarily mean that European SIGINT activities should automatically be integrated in an independent European Union ECHELON system, or that the European Union should become a full partner in the present UKUSA Agreement.

However, the development of proper European responsibility in the field of intelligence collection must be actively considered. An integrated European intelligence capacity demands, at the same time, a system of European political control over the activities of these agencies.

Decisions will have to be taken on the procedure for assessing intelligence and for taking the political decisions which result from an analysis of intelligence reports.

The lack of such a system of political control, and therefore of political awareness and responsibility for the process of intelligence collection, would be detrimental to the process of European integration.'"

NO ECHELON?
Hidden away, so that I had to resort to the 'Wayback Machine' to get a link that works, is this very lengthy piece on ECHELON. It is well worth a read.

http://web.archive.org/web/20071102075402/http://www.ladlass.com/intel/archives/006457.html

"From 1945 onwards in the United States the NSA and predecessor agencies systematically obtained cable traffic from the offices of the major cable companies. This activity was codenamed SHAMROCK. These activities remained unknown for 30 years, until enquiries were prompted by the Watergate affair.

On 8 August 1975, NSA Director Lt General Lew Allen admitted to the Pike Committee of the US House of Representatives that :

"NSA systematically intercepts international communications, both voice and cable".

The ECHELON system became well known following publication of the previous STOA report.

Since then, new evidence shows that ECHELON has existed since the 1970s, and was greatly enlarged between 1975 and 1995.

Like ILC interception, ECHELON has developed from earlier methods. This section includes new information and documentary evidence about ECHELON and satellite interception.

The "Watch List"

NO ECHELON?
THE BBC THOUGHT OTHERWISE WHEN THEY PUBLISHED THIS LITTLE PIECE!

"Echelon: Big brother without a cause". BBC News. 2000-07-06.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/820758.stm

"'The Echelon , whose existence has only recently been acknowledged by US officials, is capable of hoovering up millions of phone calls, faxes and emails a minute.

But a report published by the European Parliament in February alleges that Echelon twice helped US companies gain a commercial advantage over European firms.

Duncan Campbell, the British intelligence expert and journalist who wrote the report, raises the prospect that hundreds of US Department of Commerce "success stories", when US companies beat off European and Japanese commercial opposition, could be attributed to the filtering powers of Echelon.'"

FORBES denies facts and prints lullabies, wanting the populace to go back to sleep and not worry their pretty little heads about the data-gathering, about the privacy intrusions, about a government so intent on spying on its own citizens because that government FEARS ITS CITIZENS that it will do ANYTHING to keep a Big Brother watch over ALL OF US!

Well, we had better all become skilled "data-miners" as well, and mine daily, and SHARE what we find on those who are using every tool in the box to INSTILL FALSE FEAR, TO SCARE THE CITIZENRY INTO BLIND SUBMISSION AND UNQUESTIONING OBEDIENCE TO A GOVERNMENT GONE POWER-MAD, A GOVERNMENT DETERMINED TO KEEP US IN THE DARK UNTIL IT CAN LITERALLY PLACE US IN THE DARK.

IF WE FAIL TO KEEP OUR FINGERS ON THE RAPID PULSE OF OUR 'NATIONAL SECURITY AGENCY' AND THEIR KIND AND EXPOSE THEM AT EVERY TURN, WE CAN EXPECT WHAT ORWELL PREDICTED IN HIS BOOK, 1984:

“If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—for ever.”
― George Orwell, 1984
