There are currently no imminent nuclear threats against the United States at this time, however the situation is considered fluid and can change rapidly.

The Pentagon reports that North Korea probably has nuclear weapons that can be mounted on ballistic missiles.  This is a very significant admission by the United States and a dangerous change to the Korean situation.  Currently, North Korea has moved its mid-range Musudan missile to east coast and has prepared it for launch.  Additionally, North Korea has dedicated more facilities at its Yongbyon complex to nuclear weapons work. In response to rising tensions, China has mobilized its military and is massing near border with North Korea. South Korea has vowed a swift response to any attack by the North.  While any response would be couched within political and diplomatic realities, this represents yet another step toward possible miscalculation in the Korean theatre.

Many believe that North Korea will launch their test missile on or about April 15. Japan has instructed its armed forces to shoot down any North Korean missile that heads toward its territory.

The United States has positioned two destroyers off the coast of Korea in response to the escalating situation. Additionally, the U.S. has expressed fears that North Korea has ability to launch a high-altitude nuclear device over the United States, resulting in the destruction of the electrical grid. Many analysts do not believe North Korea has the ability to do this yet, however it is only a matter of time.

The United States has grown concerned that they have contributed to the escalating tensions by matching threat for threat and are claiming that they are going to take steps to try and dial-down the temperature, though they have left unsaid exactly how they intend to do that.

Meanwhile, Russia is practicing bombing runs against U.S. assets in Asia while Iran has publicly backed down somewhat from its nuclear program, claiming to remain within the limits demanded by Israel.  Many see this as simply another delay tactic during an election cycle. The International Atomic Energy Agency chief suspects that Iran has pressed ahead with nuclear activity applicable to development of weapons.

An unclassified Pentagon report not yet released to the public suggests that North Korea can arm missiles with nuclear warheads, a lawmaker revealed Thursday.

It came when Rep. Doug Lamborn (R) of Colorado began quoting from what he said was an unclassified version of the DIA report, which has not yet been made public.
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin Dempsey, the nation’s top military officer, appeared caught off-guard. The Pentagon has in recent days sought to strike a balance between words of warning to the North and attempts to calm the situation. General Dempsey's reaction suggested that he was not pleased to have the DIA assessment made public...
“I can’t touch that one,” Dempsey answered.
The problem was that the report hasn’t been released, he said. “Some of it’s classified, some of it’s unclassified.”

If North Korea does have nuclear-armed missiles, it could strike South Korea, Japan, or US forces in Japan. It could perhaps also hit Guam, but Hawaii and the mainland US are out of the North's missile range, according to US intelligence estimates.
North Korea is expected to launch a missile soon as a show of defiance against the West.
What does seem clear, officials told lawmakers, is that Kim does not appear to have the restraint his father had.
“Clearly, he’s off-pattern with his father,” Rep. Mike Rogers (R) of Michigan, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, observed. “Even folks who specialize in the region say this: ‘If you’re ever going to be concerned, this is the time to be concerned.’
“Well,” {James] Clapper responded, “I agree with you.”

WELL, WE'VE KNOWN SINCE 2006, AT LEAST, THAT NORTH KOREA HAD NUCLEAR CAPABILITY.
On October 9, 2006, the North Korean government issued an announcement that it had successfully conducted a nuclear test for the first time. Both the United States Geological Survey and Japanese seismological authorities detected an earthquake with a preliminary estimated magnitude of 4.3 in North Korea, corroborating some aspects of the North Korean claims
In April 2009, reports surfaced that North Korea has become a "fully fledged nuclear power", an opinion shared by IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei.On May 25, 2009, North Korea conducted another nuclear test, which is believed to have been the cause of a magnitude 4.7 seismic event. Although there is no official information about the test's location, it is believed that it happened at the site of the first nuclear test at Mantapsan, Kilju County, in the north-eastern part of North Korea.

On February 11, 2013, the USGS detected a magnitude 5.1 seismic disturbance,reported to be a third underground nuclear test. North Korea has officially reported it as a successful nuclear test with a lighter warhead, and yet delivers more force than before without mentioning the exact yield. South Korean sources put the yield estimation at 6 to 7kt of TNT. However, the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources, a state-run geology research institute in Germany, estimated the yield at 40 kilotons.

<<Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has warned against stoking the crisis on the Korean Peninsula with military maneuvers.

“One should not frighten anybody with military maneuvers, and there is a chance everything will calm down,” Lavrov said on Wednesday, referring to recent joint military drills by the United States and South Korea.
The Russian foreign minister made the remarks during a press conference with US Secretary of State John Kerry in London, where G8 foreign ministers are to hold talks.

In Washington, U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said North Korea was "skating very close to a dangerous line" with its threats and provocations, and warned the United States was prepared to respond to any moves by Pyongyang.>>
