RADIATION LEVELS 500% HIGHER THAN EXPECTED IN SOME AREAS OF THE U.S.

AS MUCH AS 99% OF FOOD FISH HAVE JUST DISAPPEARED FROM PUGET SOUND AND RECORD NUMBERS OF JELLYFISH ARE SEEN EVERYWHERE.

WASHINGTON'S GOVERNOR WANTS TO KNOW WHY.

Federal biologists can’t explain why forage fish, like herring, have declined by 98 percent or more in much of Puget Sound.

IT ISN'T JUST THE HERRING.
PACIFIC SMELT ARE ALMOST NONEXISTENT.
WILD OCEAN SALMON HAVE VIRTUALLY DISAPPEARED.

CATCHES OF FISH ARE 1% OF PREVIOUS YEARS, FISHERMEN REPORT, BUT NETS ARE SO FULL OF JELLYFISH THE ONBOARD WINCHES CAN'T HAUL THE NETS IN.

"Other fisheries and species are also dropping off the cliff (herring, rock cod, ling cod, halibut, pollock). "

THE FDA, LAST YEAR, RULED OUT THE EFFECTS OF FUKUSHIMA RADIATION BEING TO BLAME FOR THE MASS DIE-OFFS AND DISAPPEARANCES, BUT OTHER AGENCIES DON'T SEEM CONVINCED, AND LOCALS AND PACIFIC FISHERMEN ARE ALMOST CERTAIN THAT RADIATION IS THE ONLY ANSWER TO THE QUESTION OF WHY SO MANY BILLIONS OF MARINE CREATURES ARE DYING AND THE OCEAN SEEMS DEVOID OF LIFE.

A CANADIAN STUDY OF RADIONUCLIDES IN THE EASTERN PACIFIC SHOWED TRANSPORT OF FUKUSHIMA RADIATION TO CANADIAN WATERS IN 2013.

THAT STUDY ALSO SHOWED HOW ATLANTIC OCEAN WATERS ARE BEING CONTAMINATED AS WELL.
IT HAS SOME VERY GOOD EXPLANATORY GRAPHICS I HOPE YOU GET TO VIEW.

500+ times HIGHER than estimated.
Note: Rightmost point inside large oval in the graph above shows a calculated (i.e. estimated) Cs-134 level of below 2E-05 Bq/L (.02 Bq/m³). The observed (ACTUAL) CS-134 level exceeded 1E-02 Bq/L (10 Bq/m³) — 500+ times HIGHER than estimated.

WE KEEP GETTING HIT WITH RADIATION FROM JAPAN, IN BOTH AIR AND WATER.

JAPAN HAS NOT STOPPED DUMPING INTO THE PACIFIC NOR HAS LEAKAGE INTO THE ATMOSPHERE BEEN PROPERLY ADDRESSED, SO THE RADIATION JUST KEEPS COMING.

Alaska one of the hardest hit Amchitka Island, Alaska, Biological Monitoring Report 2011 Sampling Results, September 2013: To determine what [Fukushima Dai-ichi's] direct release of radioactive materials into the atmosphere might have contributed to the background radiation on Amchitka and Adak Islands, semiquantitative gamma spectrometry measurements were made [...] The results imply that Dolly Varden [a type of fish], rockweed, and to a lesser extent, Irish lord [a type of fish] appear to contain a significant cesium isotope signature from Fukushima Dai-ichi. The estimated 134Cs/137Cs activity ratios in pooled fauna samples at the time sampled ranged from <30 to about 60 percent.
Observations of Fukushima-derived fallout impacting on this region are supported by findings of elevated levels of 134Cs (and 137Cs) in lichen and soil collected from both the Adak and Amchitka regions.

Department of Energy: Biological Monitoring at Amchitka Appears to Show Impacts from Fukushima Dai-ichi Incident.
The U.S. Department of Energy Office Legacy Management (LM) ..Atmospheric monitoring in the United States showed elevated cesium activities shortly after the [Fukushima] nuclear incident. LM scientists anticipated that atmospheric transport of cesium would potentially increase the cesium activities in the 2011 biological samples collected near Amchitka. Because cesium-134 has a relatively short half-life of 2 years and indicates leakage from a nuclear reactor, it is a clear indicator of a recent nuclear accident.

TWO PRESENTATIONS FROM NORWAY SHOW HOW BADLY THE U.S. PACIFIC COAST, BERING SEA IS BEING AND WILL CONTINUE TO BE AFFECTED FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL DECADES.

ONE OF THE MAIN PROBLEMS IS THAT THE FLOW DOES NOT CHANGE, SO WE KEEP GETTING HIT THE WORST IN BASICALLY THE SAME PLACES.

Ken Buesseler, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution . after being asked wasn't the contamination level comparable to an x-ray:
"We’re comparing to a dental x-ray because that’s something people experience and choose to do… The risk is never zero, any additional radioactivity can cause additional cancers… There’s really very little we can do once its in the ocean. Fukushima was an unprecedented event… God forbid something happens today, it’s pretty unstable off Japan."

The radiation now reaching California is at the front edge of the plume, and Buesseler said the concentration is expected to increase [for] the next two to three years. But it’s worrisome, he said, that what’s happening now in Japan will reach North America in about three years.

People throughout our region have repeatedly asked for testing of our subsistence foods and water,” said [University of Alaska, Fairbanks professor Gay Sheffield]. “Seals fell sick with a still unknown disease, we’ve had the documented first cases of avian cholera in Alaska, we’ve had unusual animals like the beaked whale showing up dead on the beach near Gambell and each time people throughout the region expressed concerns about the effects of Fukushima either in the air, and now with the approaching plume in the water,” said Sheffield.

Gambell Tribal President Eddie Ungott agreed and said that his village is very concerned about radiation.

OFTEN, WE HEAR THAT SCIENTISTS HAVE RULED OUT FUKUSHIMA RADIATION AS THE CAUSE OF THE PACIFIC AND ITS CREATURES DYING.

THAT'S A LIE!
NO, THEY HAVE NOT RULED THAT OUT, NOT AT ALL!

  • “‘What about Fukushima…?’ We haven’t ruled that out” -Pete Raimondi, UC Santa Cruz
  • “Researchers say nuclear pollution… could be partially to blame for a disease wiping out starfish… Raimondi also says scientists can’t rule out nuclear pollution”-1130 AM
  • “We’ve had a lot of questions about whether it is related to radiation from Fukushima, we can’t completely exclude that possibility” -Ian Hewson, Cornell University
  • “There is speculation that the die-off could be due to… Fukushima. [Biologist Paula Romagosa] said that doesn’t sound likely because the first place it was seen was in a remote area of Indian Arm* [near Vancouver] and not the west coast” -Times Colonist

    HE WAS WRONG...
  • *The die-off was observed in Alaska during May of 2013 — 3 months before Indian Arm. Fukushima-contaminated water arrived in Alaska in 2012 and Vancouver in June 2013.

Huffington Post Live — Q: Does the disaster have the potential to disrupt the West Coast ecosystem entirely or at least in part?

A.Tim Mousseau, Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at University of South Carolina: At this point it’s a huge unknown.
There’s suggestions that there may be pockets of high contamination that get carried relatively intact across the ocean, so these have the potential to lead to some contamination.

CKNW AM Vancouver — Tim Mousseau, University of South Carolina: In terms of fish from the West Coast, what we need to be doing is monitoring the ebb and flow of these pockets of high contamination [...] Given what we’re seeing off the coast of Japan right now with some of these new models and these new studies showing pockets of fairly concentrated materials can be carried relatively intact — even all the way across the ocean — there may be little patches of areas that are affected in a significant way.

According to a recent UC Davis study, uranium-filled nanospheres were created from the millions of tons of fresh and salt water used to try to cool down three molten cores of the stricken reactors at Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. The tiny and tough buckyballs are shaped like soccer balls.
Water hitting the incredibly hot and radioactive, primarily uranium-oxide fuel turns it into peroxide. In this goo mix, buckyballs are formed, loaded with uranium and able to move quickly through water without disintegrating.

[REMEMBER THE DESRIPTION OF ALL THOSE MILLIONS OF STARFISH AND MILLIONS OF SEA URCHINS TURNING TO "GOO"? ]
High radiation readings in Santa Monica and Los Angeles air during a 42-day period from late December, 2011, to late January, 2012, strongly suggest that radiation is increasing in the region, including along the coast in Ventura County.

“In the United States, cesium-134 and cesium-137 wet dispersion values were higher than for Chernobyl fallout, in part due to the US being further downwind,” Greg Wetherbee, a chemist with USGS, told the Brattleboro Reformer newspaper.. “With Chernobyl, there was more opportunity for plume dispersion.”
WHAT MANY DON'T KNOW
Unluckily, North America is directly downwind of Japan, where the government is having 560,000 tons of irradiated rubble incinerated ,with the ash dumped in Tokyo Bay. The burning began last October and is scheduled to continue through March 2014, enraging American activists for this unwitting double dose.

A 62-page UK study released in December 2011 found that sea spray and marine aerosols created from bubbles forming and popping when the sea is choppy or waves break have increased concentrations of radioactive “actinides.”

Actinides are chemically alike radioactive metallic elements and include uranium and plutonium. One actinide infused the spray with an 812 times greater concentration of americium-241 than normal amounts of Am-241 in ambient seawater.

NOAA SAW FIT TO RESTART MONITORING BECAUSE OF THE MASS DIE-OFFS, BUT FUNDING ALLOWED FOR A MERE 4 TISSUE SAMPLES TO BE TESTED, AND WE'RE STILL AWAITING "FINAL RESULTS", THOUGH INITIAL TESTS CONFIRMED CESIUM FROM fUKUSHIMA IN ALL SAMPLES.

NOAA ALSO HAS A SET OF GIFs AND ANIMATIONS IT HASN'T POINTED  TO VERY OFTEN, PUBLICLY.
HAVE A LOOK AT THEM SOMETIMES.

Tracking Radioactivity’s Path...
IT IS NOT JUST IN THE OCEAN

The radioactive plume has three different sources: radioactive particles falling out from the atmosphere into the ocean, contaminated water directly released from the plant, and water that became contaminated by leaching radioactive particles from tainted soil.
The three reactor meltdowns have spewed trillions of becquerels of highly radioactive iodine-131, cesium-137, strontium-90 and plutonium-239 into the atmosphere and Pacific since March 11, 2011. The initial explosions and fires sent untold amounts of radiation high into the atmosphere.

WHY IS ALMOST NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THE STRONTIUM, PLUTONIUM, AMERICIUM, ETC, AS THEY ARE ALL EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO ALL LIFE?
A Feb. 28 report by the Meteorological Research Institute, just released at a scientific symposium in Tsukuba, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, says that 40,000 trillion becquerels, double the amount previously thought, have escaped from the Unit 1 reactor alone.
This has resulted in fallout around the globe that especially impacts the Pacific and parts of America and Canada — two countries downwind of Japan on the jet stream. British Columbia, the Pacific Northwest, Midwest and Ontario have been hit especially hard by rain, sleet and snow, in some cases with dizzying amounts of high radiation.
A March 6 Department of Biological Sciences study conducted at California State Long Beach found that kelp along the coast of California was heavily impacted by radioactive Iodine-131 one month after the meltdowns began. The virulent and deadly isotope was detected at 250 times levels the researchers said were normal in the kelp before the disaster.
DIDN'T MAKE NATIONAL NEWS!
Radioactive fallout in St. Louis, Mo., rainfall, which has been monitored at Potrblog.com since the crisis began, has been repeatedly so hot that levels have been reached that make it unsafe for children and pregnant women. An Oct.17, 2011, St. Louis rainstorm was measured on video at 2.76 millirems per hour, or more than 270 times background levels.

“EPA did some special monitoring for a few weeks after the accident began, then shut down the special monitoring,” Dan Hirsch, a UC Santa Cruz nuclear policy lecturer and president of the nuclear policy nonprofit Committee to Bridge the Gap, said. “What monitoring was done was very troubled. Half of the stationary air monitors were broken at the time of the accident. Deployable monitors were ordered but not deployed.”
Even when the government testing did work, increasingly high levels of radiation seem to have been ignored.
WE MAY NEVER KNOW EXACTLY WHAT LEVELS OF RADIATION WE'RE BEING EXPOSED T TODAY, BUT WE CAN SEE THE DISCREPANCIES, THE LACK  OF MONITORING JUST BECAUSE LEVELS ARE SHOWING HIGHER THAN EXPECTED, SO AS NOT TO CAUSE "PANIC".

I STILL MAINTAIN THAT THE VAST MAJORITY OF AMERICANS WOULD NOT PANIC.
BUT WE DESERVE TO KNOW.

THIS ALSO SHOWS ME THAT OUR BOGUS "DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY" IS NOTHING MORE THAN A SICK JOKE USED TO FUNNEL MORE MONEY TO THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE.

THERE IS NO SECURITY AT HOME BECAUSE THE REAL TERRORISTS ARE ALL SITTING IN CONGRESS AND ON THE STAFFS OF OUR GOVERNMENT AGENCIES AND VARIOUS FEDERAL "DEPARTMENTS".

IF WE SUCCUMB TO HIGH RADIATION, WE CAN BLAME THOSE WHO DECIDED WE WERE NOT TO KNOW THE REAL DANGERS, WHO DID NOT AFFORD US THE KNOWLEDGE THAT MIGHT HAVE GIVEN US TIME TO TAKE ACTION ON OUR OWN, HELP OURSELVES, SINCE OUR GOVERNMENT IS SURELY NOT GOING TO!
