NEW MASS DIE-OFFS ON PACIFIC COAST

A pair of bizarre invasions have left California beachgoers and scientists perplexed. Two species seldom seen in northern Pacific waters have been washing ashore for weeks to months now... the purple slug known as "sea hares", well known in more southern waters, and a small red crab known as "tuna crabs", which dwell usually at the BOTTOM of the Continental Shelf.

ABOVE, MILLIONS OF RED 'TUNA CRABS'

Coastline Pilot, Jun 18, 2015:

The critters beached before… but Sunday’s activity in Huntington was unusual, said Marine Safety Lt. Michael Beuerlein, who had not seen a similar occurrence in 34 years with the city.

FROM CBS NEWS, JUNE 17,2015
The tiny tuna crabs are so thick in places that Johnny Fotsch had to clear a path with his paddle.
"It looked like a red carpet -- a good foot-to-16 inches thick," he said. "It kinda took me back a little because I never seen anything like this before.
                                                  TOO MANY TO COUNT
"When we first saw them, we didn't know what they were," she said. "And everybody was down there trying to save them -- throwing them back in."
Their normal habitat is near Baja California. But scientists believe warm water is drawing the crabs further north. Unusual and so far unexplained warm patches in the Pacific now stretch from southern California all the way to the Gulf of Alaska and the Bering Sea.
'We don't normally see these animals because they live on the bottom of the continental shelf," said marine biologist Mike Schaadt.
It's not just the crabs that are heading north but also large schools of bluefin tuna.

AND LARGE PURPLE SLUGS CALLED "SEA HARES"

ABC News transcript, Jun 16, 2015: Like something from a science fiction movie, the invasion of the purple blob… [Experts] tell us it’s unusual to see these slugs show up [over] an extended period of time.
Morgan Dill
: “We’ve been seeing them wash up since September, going all through winter, and now even more in spring.

THE WEATHER CHANNEL HAS A VIDEO REPORT ON BOTH OF THE LATEST <HERE>.

ABC ALSO HAS A VIDEO ON THE PURPLE SLUGS AND CRABS <HERE>.

MEANWHILE, RARE STRANDINGS OF SEVERAL SPECIES OF WHALES CONTINUE ALONG SOUTH AMERICAN TO ALASKAN BEACHES, AND FISHERMEN ARE STILL REPORTING THAT THE PACIFIC IS STARTING TO LOOK LIKE A 'DESERT', VOID OF LIFE.

AN ARTICLE FROM THE UK, MAY 8,2015:

The waters of the Pacific off the coast of California are a clear, shimmering blue today, so transparent it’s possible to see the sandy bottom below.
Viewing the ocean from the state’s famous craggy headlands, it’s impossible to know that the ocean’s unusual clarity is hiding a cruel beauty: clear water is a sign that the ocean is turning into a desert, and the chain reaction that causes that bitter clarity is perhaps most obvious on the beaches of the Golden State, where thousands of emaciated sea lion pups are stranded.

YES, SEA LION/SEAL DEATHS CONTINUE.

ACTUALLY, DEATH CONTINUES, PERIOD, IN THE PACIFIC, BUT LET'S NOT MENTION CONTINUAL CONTAMINATION FROM THE CRIPPLED JAPANESE NUCLEAR SITE, MILLIONS OF GALLONS OF NUCLEAR WASTE WATER EACH WEEK, DUMPING DAILY BY TEPCO STRAIGHT INTO THE PACIFIC, FOR FOUR LONG YEARS NOW, ALONG WITH AIRBORNE "STEAM-CARRIED" RADIATION, RADIOACTIVE RAIN, FOR FOUR YEARS NOW WITHOUT CEASE...SURELY THAT ISN'T WHAT'S HEATING UP THE PACIFIC "IN POCKETS", IS IT?

ADD WHALES TO RECENT WEST COAST DEATHS

FROM THE WASHINGTON POST, JUNE 19, 2015

Endangered whales are dying off in Alaska, and scientists are racing to discover why.

The carcasses were all spotted within a fairly small area.

In examining one of the casualties -- a whale that washed up onto shore -- UAF marine mammal specialists found no sign of injuries.
In fact, the whale had a healthy layer of blubber, indicating that it wasn't malnourished when it died.

It's rare for more than one such death to be discovered every year or so, they say, and they're exhaustively searching for a possible cause. It's possible that warming ocean temperatures could be partially to blame.

During the next two weeks, boaters, fishermen and pilots reported floating dead whales in the area.
The dead whales are now drifting along both sides of Kodiak Island.

Researchers are also investigating the death of some 25 walruses and an unusual number of seabirds within a few hundred miles of the fin whale carcasses.
It's not clear if the unexpected deaths are related.

Thousands of miles away, another group of endangered whales may be suffering from poisoned algal bloom.
Just weeks ago, Chilean researchers theorized that as many as 30 sei whales had [died there].
No injuries are found.

More than 170 whales have beached themselves in New Zealand and time is running out.

IT COULDN'T BE THOSE "NEW BUCKYBALLS OF URANIUM" THAT CROSSED THE PACIFIC AT ALMOST LIGHT SPEED?
SURELY NOT!

"
When sea water contacts corium a new form of radionuclide is formed, commonly known as bucky balls.

The corium cores are underground within the brackish/seawater zone under the plant. This new form is being constantly created by seawater (sodium) reacting with the corium and is carried by tidial and hydrodynamic pressure into the sea.

And it floats, is very light, containing a wide variety of isotopes.

When dried, it travels aloft, carried by winds – airborne inland.

The chemical properties and behavior of this new particle are unknown to chemists educated in old school pre 3/11 knowledge.

A new book will have to be written about this new material, buckeys are unsinkable and travel in the upper layer, on the surface of the ocean, like Styrofoam."

IT COULDN'T BE THAT, BY NEXT YEAR, OUR WEST COAST WILL BE ABOUT 80% AS RADIOACTIVE AS NEAR THE DAIICHI PLANT ITSELF, ACCORDING TO MORE THAN ONE 'EXPERT', COULD IT?

SURELY IT ISN'T THAT RADIATION LEVELS ARE UP TO 200 TIMES MORE THAN ORIGINALLY REPORTED, IS IT, AND THAT'S WHAT'S KILLING THE FRAGILE SEA CREATURES?

SEA LIFE SEEM TO BE MIGRATING AND STAYING FURTHER NORTH.
STRANGE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AND BAJA PENINSULA FISH ARE SHOWING UP  OFF ALASKA'S COAST.

BIGGEST ALGAE BLOOM IN MODERN TIMES, FROM MEXICO TO ALASKA
A huge toxic algae bloom, or red tide, which is currently sitting about five miles off the Oregon coast, has closed razor clamming and other shellfish harvests from San Diego to Vancouver Island.
In Oregon, according to NOAA Fisheries spokesman Michael Milstein, all recreational shellfish harvesting from the Columbia River south to Tillamook Head has been closed.
Mussel harvesting north of Gold Beach is also prohibited and, for the first time, Washington has closed its coastal waters to the taking of Dungeness crab.

I'LL STOP HERE, BEFORE I BREAK MY OWN RULE ABOUT THE USE OF OBSCENITIES HERE IN THE TEA ROOM.

BUT UNDERSTAND, THESE ARE THINGS NOT SEEN BEFORE, THESE MASS DIE-OFFS OF ABOUT 200 SPECIES OF MARINE LIFE OF ALL KINDS, SHORE BIRDS, MIGRATORY GEESE, DUCKS...THIS "OCEAN WARMING", THE INCREDIBLE ALGAE BLOOM, THE LACK OF FOOD FISH, THE DIE-OFF OF OVER 140 SPECIES IN HISTORICAL NUMBERS IN THE PAST THREE YEARS, MORE THAN 200 SPECIES SEEING"LARGE NUMBERS OF MYSTERIOUS DEATHS", THIS GREAT NORTHERN MIGRATION PATTERN, WHALES LYING NEARER AND NEARER THE COASTLINE AND FAILING TO BREED, SEALS TRYING TO ESCAPE TO SHORE, STARVING...
IT'S ALL "UNPRECEDENTED", BUT NO ONE IS HELPING THE SEA LIFE IN THE PACIFIC.

WHAT MAKES ME SO UNCOMMONLY ANGRY IS, KNOWING NONE OF THESE DYING SPECIES HAVE ANYWHERE ELSE TO RUN TO, NOBODY IS TAKING THE REINS FROM TEPCO AND FROM JAPAN AND DOING ANYTHING TO HELP THESE CREATURES...OR US!

OR US!

  1. What happened to all those promised test results from dead whales and seals and polar bears and pelicans and everything they said we'd have results of by January to May this year? The only one published that I saw said radiation was found in seals comparable to radiation levels after atomic testing in the Pacific. No real numbers. We have to wonder why no results.

    1. I WONDER THE SAME THING.
AND I HAVE ALSO SEARCHED ALMOST DAILY FOR EVEN THE RESULTS ON THE SALMON WE WERE PROMISED THREE YEARS AGO!
NATIVE TRIBES IN CANADA AND ALASKA HAVE REQUESTED TEST RESULTS...ALWAYS GET THE OLD RUNAROUND..."SOON, WE'RE WORKING ON IT".
WHAT THEY'RE WORKING ON IS HIDING THE RESULTS, IGNORING IT UNTIL IT GOES AWAY.
LITTLE DO THEY KNOW IT WILL NEVER GO AWAY!
PEOPLE WANT TO KNOW, NEED TO KNOW, HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW, ESPECIALLY THE NATIVE TRIBES WHO DEPEND ON THE SEA FOR LIFE ITSELF!

  2. ABOUT THOSE 'URANIUM BUCKYBALLS'...According to a recent UC Davis study, these uranium-filled nanospheres were created from the millions of tons of fresh and salt water used to try to cool down three molten cores of the stricken reactors at Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. The tiny and tough buckyballs are shaped like soccer balls.

Water hitting the incredibly hot and radioactive, primarily uranium-oxide fuel turns it into peroxide. In this goo mix, buckyballs are formed, loaded with uranium and able to move quickly through water without disintegrating.

High radiation readings in Santa Monica and Los Angeles air during a 42-day period from late December to late January strongly suggest that radiation is increasing in the region including along the coast in Ventura County.

The radiation, detected by this reporter and the US Environmental Protection Agency, separate from each other and using different procedures, does not appear to be natural in origin. The EPA’s radiation station is high atop an undisclosed building in Los Angeles, while this reporter’s detection location is near the West LA boundary.

Both stations registered more than 5.3 times the normal amount, though the methods of sampling and detection differed. The videotaped Santa Monica sampling and testing allowed for the detection of alpha and beta radiation, while the sensitive EPA instrument detected beta only, according to the government Web site.

Scientific studies from the United Kingdom and Europe show that sea water infused with radiation of the sort spewing out of Fukushima can travel inland from the coast up to 300 kilometers. These mobile poisons include cesium-137 and plutonium-239, the latter of which has a half-life of 24,400 years.

Despite the fact that University of California and this reporter’s tests show high radiation in the air, water, food and dairy products in this state, the state and federal governments cut off special testing for Fukushima radionuclides more than half a year ago.
This double whammy of cesium-137, which has a half-life of 30 years, isn’t even in a uranium-60 buckyball. But they are both in the unfathomable spread of goo throughout the Pacific, riding on the second strongest current in the world and headed right for us.

The three reactor meltdowns have spewed trillions of becquerels of highly radioactive iodine-131, cesium-137, strontium-90 and plutonium-239 into the atmosphere and Pacific since March 11, 2011. The initial explosions and fires sent untold amounts of radiation high into the atmosphere.
