NSA RESUMES SPYING ON AMERICANS

THE NSA IS 100% ADDICTED TO SPYING ON US.
I THINK THEY MAYBE "GET OFF" ON READING OUR PRIVATE EMAILS AND LISTENING TO OUR PHONE CONVERSATIONS.

OH, THE NSA, THE POOR NSA...

IT'S JUST DRIVEN TO COLLECT MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF DATA ON EACH AND EVERY U.S. CITIZEN AND A CURSED FEDERAL COURT JUST GRANTED ITS WISH TO PICK UP WHERE IT LEFT OFF...AS IF THE NSA EVER STOPPED COLLECTING AS MANY TIDBITS AS IT CAN.

The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court on Monday ruled that the NSA could resume gathering millions of Americans’ phone metadata — call times, dates and durations — to scan for links to foreign terrorists.

“In passing the USA Freedom Act, Congress clearly intended to end bulk data collection of business records and other tangible things,” Judge Michael W. Mosman wrote in his opinion. “But what it took away with one hand, it gave back — for a limited time — with the other. . . . It chose to allow a 180-day transitional period during which such [bulk] collection could continue.”

AND I'LL TAKE ALL BETS THAT THE 180 DAYS WILL NEVER END.

YEAH, I'M JUST GOING TO SAY IT... I TOLD YOU SO!

THE BOYS DIDN'T SPEND OVER $2 BILLION ON THAT NEW UTAH FACILITY TO HAVE IT JUST SIT THERE.  THE MARYLAND MEGA-COMPLEX PICTURED ABOVE WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH, RIGHT?
THE WHOLE "SEARCH FOR AL-QAEDA CELLS IN THE U.S." THING SORT OF REMINDS ME OF OUR SEARCH FOR "WMDs" IN IRAQ...WE KNOW BLOODY WELL THEY AREN'T THERE, OR DON'T REALLY AMOUNT TO A HILL OF BEANS (COMPARED, SAY, TO WHAT PAKISTAN, IRAN, AND OTHERS OVER THAT WAY HAVE...THOSE ARE SOME HUMDINGER "WMDs"!) BUT WE JUST MUST SPEND ENORMOUS AMOUNTS OF TAXPAYER MONEY PRETENDING TO SAFEGUARD THE OLD "HOMELAND" FROM THOSE HORRRRRIBLE OLD 'TERRORISTS.

I TELL YOU WHAT, I'D PIT ANY OF OUR GANG UP ON CAPITOL HILL AGAINST ISIS' BEST AND BE CERTAIN OUR GUY WOULD BEAT HIM HANDS-DOWN ON THE TERRORIST BIT!
TERROR IN AMERICA IS HOMEMADE!
CONGRESS AND THE OVAL OFFICE COOKS IT UP FRESH EVERY SINGLE DAY!

Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) said he saw no reason to resume collection, even on a temporary basis. “This illegal dragnet surveillance violated Americans’ rights for 14 years without making our country any safer,” he said.

OH, HUSH NOW, RON!
YOU KNOW AND I KNOW THOSE BOYS HAVE TO HAVE THEIR DAILY FIX!
THAT NONE OF THAT MASS DATA COLLECTION MADE A SINGLE SMALL DAMN IS BESIDE THE POINT, SON!

THAT THE WHOLE NSA BUSINESS OF SPYING ON ALL OF US WAS JUST THE OTHER DAY RULED 'UNCONSTITUTIONAL AND THAT IF ANY STATE ALLOWED THE SAME THING FROM ANY OF US WOULD BRING THE AXE FALLING ON OUR NECKS IS ALSO BESIDE THE POINT, ISN'T IT?

"In May, a federal appeals court in New York held that the program was unlawful. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit ruled that the program stretched the meaning of the statute — Section 215 of the USA Patriot Act — to enable data collection in “staggering” volumes in the chance that “at some future point” there might be a need to search for terrorist links."

WHAT'S A VIOLATION OF THE U.S. CONSTITUTION THESE DAYS ANYWAY?
EVERYBODY'S DOING IT...THE PREZ HIMSELF LIKES TO VIOLATE IT, AND THE OATH OF OFFICE HE TOOK TO UPHOLD IT, AS DOES OLD CONGRESS...FREQUENTLY.

THEY HAVE US PRETTY WELL COVERED...AS IF ONE SITE ISN'T ENOUGH.
BE COMFORTED, DEAR SHEEPLE, 'BIG BROTHER' NEVER STOPPED LISTENING AND WATCHING...AND HE NEVER, EVER WILL!

A NICE LITTLE 'OFF-THE-WALL' ARTICLE ABOUT THE FREQUENT AND COSTLY GLITCHES CAUSING SPARKS AND FIRES AT THAT NEW UTAH SITE TICKLED MY FUNNYBONE.

Within the last 13 months, at least 10 electric surges have each cost about $100,000 in damages, according to documents obtained by the Wall Street Journal.
Experts agree that the system, which requires about 64 megawatts of electricity—that's about a $1 million a month energy bill--isn't able to run all of its computers and servers while keeping them cool, which is likely triggering the meltdowns.

The contractor that designed the flawed system—Pennsylvania-based Klingstubbins--said in a statement that it has "uncovered the issue" and is working on "implementing a permanent fix."
But that's not the case, according to the Army Corps of Engineers (ACE), which is in charge of overseeing the data center's construction. ACE disagreed with the contractor and said the meltdowns are "not yet sufficiently understood."

A report by ACE in the Wall Street Journal said the government has incomplete information about the design of the electrical system that could pose new problems if settings need to change on circuit breakers. The report also said regular quality controls in design and construction were bypassed in an effort to "fast track" the project.

Communications from all around the world in the form of emails, cell phone calls and Google searches, among other digital details are stored in the center's databases, which are said to be larger than Google's biggest data center. But due to the major system meltdowns, the NSA hasn't been able to use the center's databases, which it has claimed are crucial for national security.

WELL, WE GET OUR LAUGHS WHEREVER WE CAN, YES?

SO, REST EASY, FELLOW CITIZENS...THE NSA HAS US COVERED.

YOU MAY RUN...BUT YOU CAN NEVER, NEVER HIDE...
