MOX FUEL RODS AT FUKUSHIMA PLANT POSE CONTINUED RISK

"MOX plutonium fuel WAS used in Fukushima's Unit 3 reactor, and is considered two million times more deadly than enriched uranium."
Amazingly, most mainstream reports that mention MOX discount it as a non-threat. But the truth of the matter is that the threat posed by MOX is very serious. The NIRS report explains that inhalation of MOX radioactive material is significantly more dangerous than inhalation of normal uranium radioactive particles. You can read the entire MOX report for yourself here:http://www10.antenna.nl/wise/469-470/6.html#...

JAPANESE OFFICIALS HAVE BEEN KIND ENOUGH TO LET THE WORLD KNOW THE MOX FUEL RODS THEY WERE USING IN ONE REACTOR (THE ONE THEY ADMIT TO) WERE A SOURCE OF THE INITIAL FALLOUT/RADIATION LEAKS AND ARE STILL "BLEEDING".

PLUTONIUM IS NOW FREE FOR ALL THE WORLD TO ENJOY, COMPLIMENTS OF TEPCO AND THE CROOKED ABE ADMINISTRATION, WHO CARE MORE ABOUT HOLDING THE OLYMPICS THAN THE HEALTH OF THE ENTIRE PLANET.

UNKNOWN NUMBERS OF MOX FUEL RODS STILL LEAKING RADIATION FROM ONE, POSSIBLY TWO OR MORE OF THE JAPANESE REACTORS, WHILE OTHER LEAKS, INTO THE AIR, GROUND AND INTO BOTH FRESH AND OCEAN WATER, ALSO CONTINUE.

VIDEOS, PHOTOS, REPORTS FROM NEARBY RESIDENTS AND SOME NEWS SOURCES HAVE SHOWN AND TOLD OF STEAM RISING FROM REACTOR #3 AGAIN AND AGAIN FOR THE PAST ALMOST 5 YEARS.

SEE <
THIS>, AND <THIS>, AND <THIS> .

A recent National Public Radio (NPR) piece explains that the half-life of plutonium-239, a component of MOX, is an astounding 24,000 years. The same piece explains that if even a small amount of this potent substance escapes from the plant in a smoke plume, the particles will travel with the wind and contaminate soil for tens of thousands of years.

"
No one knows exactly where the melted nuclear debris is sitting in the reactors, let alone how exactly the debris might be taken out. Computer simulation and speculative images are all he has so far, said Naohiro Masuda, tapped last year as chief of decontamination and decommissioning for plant owner Tokyo Electric Power Co.
Masuda also acknowledged that Japan has not done as good a job as it should have on relaying the harsh realities at the plant.

"Some radiation will continue to leak through rainfall, because rainwater will pick up radiation from the plant grounds, and some of it will eventually fall into the ocean."

REALLY?
MAYBE THAT'S WHY IT'S FINALLY BEING ADMITTED WE'RE GETTING SOME OF THAT?

Cesium-134 (aka, the Fukushima fingerprint") has been detected within several hundred kilometers of the Oregon, Washington and California coasts in recent months, as well as offshore from Canada’s Vancouver Island.
Last year, Woods Hole reported detectable radiation from about 100 miles (160 km) off the coast of northern California, and in April radiation was found off Canada’s shores.
The latest readings measured the highest radiation levels outside Japanese waters to date some 2,574 km west of San Francisco.
The figures also confirm that the spread of radiation to North American waters is not isolated to a handful of locations, but can be detected along a stretch of more than 1,600 km offshore.

THE MAINSTREAM NEWS MEDIA LIKES TO PRETEND ALL THOSE RADIATION LEAKS, ALL THAT NUCLEAR FALLOUT FROM THE DAIICHI FACILITY ARE OVER WITH, DONE, ENDED.

NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH.

JAPAN IS STILL CLEANING UP, STILL BURNING RADIOACTIVE RUBBLE, STILL PILING TRASH BAGS FULL OF CONTAMINATED SOIL ANYWHERE THEY CAN FIND SPACE.

AND AT LEAST 3 OF THE 6 REACTORSARE STILL LEAKING.

AND BE AWARE THAT NO MAINSTREAM MEDIA IS TALKING ABOUT BIOACCUMULATION, HOW RADIATION INCREASES OVER TIME AS EXPOSURE AFTER EXPOSURE ATTACKS CELLS, DNA...LIFE.

HIGHEST RADIATION READINGS IN RECORDED HISTORY HAVE BEEN REPORTED BY TEPCO AGAIN AND AGAIN...LAST YEAR, LAST MONTH, AND NOW WE LEARN THE MOX FUEL FROM AT LEAST REACTOR #3 HAS BEEN, LIKELY IS RIGHT NOW, LEAKING PLUTONIUM INTO OUR ENVIRONMENT...ALMOST 5 YEARS AFTER THE THING BLEW UP...AND IT'S TOO "HOT" FOR TEPCO TO HANDLE...THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO WITH THE TECHNOLOGY THEY HAVE AVAILABLE TO MAKE IT STOP.

BUT, ON TOP OF THAT REVELATION, JAPAN NOW WANTS TO EVAPORATE TRITIUM WATER INTO OUR ATMOSPHERE, 800,000 CUBIC METERS, 400 CUBIC METERS DAILY, AS IN EVERY DAY.

THEY'VE RUN OUT OF STORAGE CAPACITY, WHAT THEY HAVE STORED IS LEAKING LIKE SIEVES, AND THEY'VE PUMPED IT INTO THE SEA TO THE POINT THAT MOST NATIONS OF EARTH, ALL BUT AMERICA, THAT IS, ARE ACCUSING THEM OF KILLING THE PACIFIC OCEAN AND EVERYTHING IN IT.
NOW THEY WANT TO PUT IT INTO THE ATMOSPHERE... <POOF!>, UP IT GOES...STORAGE WORRIES OVER!

On 12/11/2015, Tepco announced the possibility of evaporating Tritium water retained in the Fukushima plant area.
It was reported in the task force of METI (Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry).

From their report, the estimated volume to be released is 800,000 m3. 400 m3 of Tritium water is expected to be released per day.
14125.8667 CUBIC FEET EVERY SINGLE DAY, AMERICA.

HAS TEPCO LIED TO THE WORLD ABOUT THE QUATITIES OF CONTAMINATED WATER RELEASED BEFORE?
YES, SINCE DAY 1.

SO HOW MUCH WILL ACTUALLY BE RELEASED?
HOWEVER MUCH THEY PLEASE, BECAUSE NO ONE IS MONITORING THAT.

The maximum density of Tritium is 4,200,000,000 Bq/m3.
The water is reportedly vaporized at 900 ~ 1,000 ℃, released to the atmosphere at 60m above the ground."

BACK IN JUNE THIS YEAR, OVER 4 YEARS AFTER THE ACCIDENT, TEPCO ANNOUNCED, A MONTH AFTER THE MEASUREMENTS, THAT PORT SEAWATER SHOWED HIGHEST STRONTIUM LEVELS IN RECORDED HISTORY.

"Tepco announced they measured 1,000,000 Bq/m3 of Strontium-90 at two locations in Fukushima plant port.

THAT'S 1 MILLION BECQUERELS PER 35 CUBIC FEET, AMERICANS.

This is the highest reading in recorded history.
The sample is from the port seawater.

Sampling date was 5/4/2015.

The locations were near the water intake of Reactor 3 and 4, and also the screen of Reactor 4.

The previous highest readings were lower than 700,000 Bq/m3.

Tepco has not made any announcement on this rapid increase."

TIME FRAME FOR BEGINNING DECOMMISSIONING/CLEANUP PUSHED BACK AGAIN
15 DECEMBER 2015

"How long will it take to decommission the three breached reactors, and how will it be accomplished, when not even robots have been able to enter the main fuel-debris areas so far? How much will it ultimately cost? Naohiro Masuda, tapped last year as chief of decontamination and decommissioning for plant owner Tokyo Electric Power Co., acknowledges he is a long way from answering those questions definitively.

"This is something that has never been experienced. A textbook doesn't exist for something like this," Masuda told The Associated Press in an interview at TEPCO's Tokyo headquarters on Dec. 14.

In June, the government and TEPCO acknowledged the target dates in the official "road map" for decommissioning had to be pushed back by about two years.

Now even the most optimistic projections estimate the work will take about half a century.

Masuda said without hesitation that more delays could be in order.

No one knows exactly where the melted nuclear debris is sitting in the reactors, let alone how exactly the debris might be taken out.
Computer simulation and speculative images are all he has so far.

New science will have to be invented for the plant to be cleaned up.

Under the latest plan, the removal of the fuel debris is expected to start within a decade.

Still, Masuda likened such goals to reminders not to slack off, rather than hard deadlines based on real-life assessments.

ANOTHER THING SLOWING THEM DOWN JUST MAY BE THAT THE JAPANESE GOVERNMENT KEEPS SUBSIDIZING THE "CLEANUP", WHICH HAS PUT OVER TWO TRILLION YEN IN TEPCO'S POCKETS!

The utility has undergone a public bailout and has readied 2 trillion yen ($17 billion) for decommissioning.

The Japanese government has earmarked 54 billion yen ($446 million) of public funds for researching decommissioning technology through this fiscal year.

Such money doesn’t include compensation or damage lawsuits.

The Fukushima catastrophe spewed radiation into the air, ocean and surrounding areas through hydrogen explosions, and displaced some 100,000 people.

The way TEPCO is spending money has drawn some criticism from experts abroad. Unlike the U.S. system, there is no open bid or escrow fund in Japan to dole out the massive decommissioning funds.

Much of the work is going to the Japanese manufacturers that constructed the plants, such as Toshiba Corp. and Hitachi Inc., under long-term contracts. Some outside international consultants are involved, and some foreign companies have gotten water-decontamination and other contracts.

Akira Tokuhiro, an American and nuclear expert who teaches at the University of Idaho, supports an open bidding process that invites more international expertise. He noted that Japan has no, or very little, decommissioning experience, compared to the Americans, the French and the Russians.

“An international effort has the potential to reduce both time and cost, while maintaining safety, transparency and cost,” he said.

THAT TEPCO HAS DONE CONSIDERABLE BUSINESS WITH THE JAPANESE MAFIA HAS ALSO BEEN WIDELY REPORTED IN MANY INTERNATIONAL NEWS REPORTS.
MAYBE THAT'S ALSO INFLUENCING HOW THINGS PROGRESS?

AND THEN THERE'S THE OBVIOUS MEDIA BLACKOUT, WHICH WAS INITIALLY MANDATED BY THE ABE ADMINISTRATION.

Fukushima’s Radiation Goes Largely Uncovered: A Clear and Present Danger to the US.
 02 December 2015
"The media blackout on Fukushima is chilling to say the least because it’s a life-threatening crisis that has no ending, no solution, and yet no one is aware of the predicament due to the censorship of it. Not only has Fukushima been deleted in the newsrooms, nuclear power has been raised during the U.S. Presidential debates as a “safe, clean, alternative energy to address global warming.”

Shamefully, the explosions at Fukushima were not even mentioned once or questioned.

There are a lot of reports about the largest toxic algae bloom in the Pacific, but no one in the mainstream media, to my knowledge, has connected the dots between the release of thousands of tons of burning hot cancerous radioactive water into the Pacific Ocean for the last five years and the development of the toxic algae that continues to grow and poison everything it touches.

In addition to the health-risk problems, like the billion dollar fishing industry that died from the
BP Gulf of Mexico oil spill catastrophe, so too, generations of Pacific fishermen are losing their incomes.
Mainstream reporters, politicians, NOAA scientists just can’t see the causal links between Fukushima that is boiling the Pacific and the growing toxic algae for some inexplicable reason. In fact, they go out of their way to deny any connection between five years of dumping thousands of tons of hot radioactive water into the Pacific and the creation of the toxic algae which started to grow after 2011.
The U.S. government is not testing the water, not testing the fish, and not testing the ambient air.

People in Japan are eating radiation every day.

Why have they not speculated on the causal connection?

My guess is that the nuclear oligarchs are as powerfully wealthy as the oil oligarchs. After all, how can the nuclear investors sell nuclear power to China or start a revival of nuclear power in the U.S. or anywhere else if all the facts on Fukushima were to be reported on a regular basis in the mainstream news?
Hence: media blackout.
You don’t need to be a nuclear physicist or a marine biologist to see that the Pacific Ocean is heating up faster than anything global warming could have created. The sudden acceleration is from Fukushima’s radioactive water, thus producing the largest toxic algae in history that will continue to expand as long as Japan continues to dump radioactive water into the Pacific.

Think of it this way: dumping hundreds of tons of cancerous, hot radioactive water every day, year after year, into the Pacific Ocean amounts to global warming on steroids. In other words, it’s the most catastrophic weapon of mass destruction known to man, resulting in an acceleration of mass extinction.
That is not hyperbole. Hyperbole is when paid-off politicians and scientists tell the public that “it’s all good. Nothing to worry about…” Now that’s hyperbole!

The truth is Fukushima is a “clear and present danger” to the United States.

As for California’s drought, in addition to the abnormal warming of sea temperatures, we’ve seen dramatic changes in the jet-stream climate patterns in the last few years that global warming, alone, cannot explain: for example, the rapid severity of these irregular changes in the Pacific atmosphere, and the timing of the
“blob’s” development occurred after Japan began dumping tons of radioactive water into the Pacific Ocean: RT report, “The ‘Blob' in Pacific Ocean Might be to Blame for California Drought, Erratic US Weather – Studies”.
Tuna tested in labs caught off the Pacific coasts, for example, are tainted with cancerous Cesium-134 and Cesium-137. According to several reports last year, radiation levels in tuna off Oregon’s coast tripled.

The public has a right to know why the international community is allowing Japan to poison the entire Pacific Ocean with endless tons of radioactive water. Fukushima is accelerating the scientific prediction of the man-made, mass extinction of Earth.

It must stop. And the corporate media blackout must also end. It’s time for the major players in journalism to inform the public.

This is an emergency crisis. TEPCO owners must find a solution.
If they have to offer a billion dollar prize to the best and brightest nuclear physicists to find a solution—so be it.
They can afford it.
Turning our Pacific Ocean into a toxic Dead Zone with infinite tons of radioactive water is not the solution!"

TEPCO LIED ABOUT HAVING CONTROL OF THE LEAKS
Contrary to the statements of the Japanese PM,
TEPCO’s Akira Ono said attempts to plug the leaks of radioactive water had failed.

"It's embarrassing to admit, but there are certain parts of the site where we don't have full control," Ono told reporters touring the plant this week, reported Reuters. Last year, the Japanese PM attempted to assure the world that the situation at the stricken nuclear power plant was under control.

In the latest blunder at the plant, TEPCO mistakenly flooded the Fukushima facility’s basements with radioactive cooling-tank water. Earlier this week the Japanese newspaper the Asahi Shimbun reported that around 200 tons of water had found its way into waste disposal facilities under the power plant. TEPCO said they were working to fix the leakage as soon as possible.

THEY WAITED 3 YEARS TO TELL US FUEL RODS WERE BLOWN ALL OVER JAPAN

In the early morning news flash of 8/9/2014, NHK announced that pieces of nuclear fuel, fuel rods, reactor pressure vessels and the internal structure were blasted to at least 130km away from Fukushima nuclear plant.
Fukushima uranium in ‘glassy’ spheres transported over 170 km
It was 2μm diameter particle. The ball-looking shape proves it was molten in high temperature and quickly cooled down. The particles contain Uranium, Zirconium, etc, which are the same material as nuclear fuel and the structure inside the vessels. These were collected from 3/14 ~ 3/15/2011 in Tsukuba city Ibaraki prefecture by the study group of Science Univ. of Tokyo.

"
Tepco announced in the press conference of 8/25/2014,

5 Billion Bq of Strontium-90 flowed to the Pacific ON A DAILY BASIS THOUGHOUT 2014.

FIRST, THEY DUMPED IT FOR 8 MONTHS, THEN LET THE WORLD KNOW?
TYPICAL OF TEPCO.

Fukushima plant port is not separated from the Pacific. Discharged nuclides naturally spreads to the sea."

Recently, radioactive cesium in tunnels at Fukushima suddenly spiked by more than 4,000 times similar measurements from one year ago.
This huge spike in radiation levels hit 482,000 Becquerels per liter.
PER LITER....LESS THAN 1/3rd OF A U.S. GALLON.

TEPCO intends to investigate the reason behind the enormous anomalous increase, Radiation Spikes in Fukushima Underground Ducts, NHK World, Dec. 9, 2015.

ALSO...the barrier constructed at the Fukushima nuclear power plant to hopefully prevent contaminated water from leaking into the ocean is tilting and has developed a crack about 0.3 miles in length along its base. The wall is 0.5 miles long and 98 feet below ground.

“Higher levels of radiation from Japan’s 2011 Fukushima nuclear accident are showing up in the ocean off the west coast of North America, scientists from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution reported,” Higher Levels of Fukushima Radiation Detected Off West Coast, Statesman Journal, Dec. 3, 2015.

In the meantime, TEPCO battles one of the most perplexing disasters of all-time with an average number of daily workers at more than 7,000. The difficulty of procuring workers at the site is beyond imagination. Homeless people are hired off the streets to do the dangerous decontamination work.

Meanwhile, Greenpeace/Japan accuses the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) of downplaying the health risks of the 2011 Fukushima disaster and accuses the agency of acting in concert with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s attempts to “normalize” the disaster, Greenpeace Japan: IAEA Downplays Dangers of Fukushima Disaster, Sputnik News, Feb. 9, 2015.
Hurry, hurry, the Olympics is coming!

One clever approach to the problem of too much radiation is to increase the “allowable limits”:

“The permissible annual level of radiation exposure has been dangerously heightened in Japan after the March 11th accident. One (1) millisievert (mSv) has been elevated to 20 mSv for residents in affected areas. The government increased the annual limit for nuclear workers’ radiation exposure from 100 mSv to 250 mSv in ‘emergency situations,” Mitsuhei Murata (Executive Director of Japan Society for Global System and Ethics and former Japanese ambassador to Switzerland) Nuclear Disaster and Global Ethics, UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction, March 16, 2015.

When the “permissible level” of radiation was initially moved higher, the Japan Medical Association stated: “The scientific basis for choosing the maximum amount of 20 mSv in the band of 1 to 20 mSv is not clear.”
Furthermore, according to Physicians for Social Responsibility, there is no safe level of radiation.

Apropos the Fukushima situation: “It is unconscionable to increase the allowable dose for children to 20 millisieverts (mSv). Twenty mSv exposes an adult to a 1 in 500 risk of getting cancer; this dose for children exposes them to a 1 in 200 risk of getting cancer. And if they are exposed to this dose for two years, the risk is 1 in 100. There is no way that this level of exposure can be considered ‘safe’ for children.”

Recent studies confirm “exposure to low levels of radiation can cause cancer,” specifically,

“No matter whether people are exposed to protracted low doses or to high and acute does, the observed association between dose and solid cancer risk is similar per unit of radiation dose,”
(Source: British Medical Journal, Press Release, Low Doses of Ionizing Radiation Increase Risk of Death from Solid Cancers, International Agency for Research on Cancer, WHO, Oct. 21, 2015).

In sharp contrast to Japan’s position, Chernobyl’s officialdom has a different take on “permissible annual radiation exposure,” specifically:

“The radiation limit that excluded people from living in the 30km zone around the Chernobyl nuclear plant exclusion zone was set at 5mSV/year, five years after the nuclear accident. Over 100,000 people were evacuated from within the zone and will never return,” (Greenpeace Japan). Never ever return!

As for the newly established higher acceptable Japanese limit for radiation: “This is not only unscientific, it is also unconscionable,” Dr. Fairlie, Unspoken Death Toll of Fukushima: Nuclear Disaster Killing Japanese Slowly, Sputnik International, Aug. 8, 2015.

After all, on a factual basis, “unscientific and unconscionable” are strong indictments.

Yet, the Olympic committee has already approved Tokyo 2020, and people from around the world will be making plans to attend.

ONE MAN MAKES A STAND AGAINST ABE ALLOWING THE OLYMPICS
“The future of the Olympic Games is at stake. It is as a believer in the spirit of the Olympic Games and the Olympic Movement that I am pleading for an honorable retreat, and this, in order for Japan to devote maximum efforts to controlling the Fukushima crisis,”
Mitsuhei Murata, Former Japanese Ambassador to Switzerland and Executive Director, Japan Society for Global System and Ethics, Tokyo, October 28, 2015."

MOX REACTOR #3
The Tokyo Electric and Power Company, a.k.a. TEPCO, has announced that they estimate some 1.1 trillion becquerels
of radioactive contamination were released during a 4-hour period on August 19, 2013 during debris cleanup at the #3 reactor plant.

#3 is the reactor burning MOX plutonium fuel, which blew up so spectacularly on March 14, 2011, three days after the earthquake caused a power outage in the northeastern Japan region.

TEPCO left it pretty much alone for two and a half years, as the levels of contamination in the wreckage were - and still are - too high for humans. Debris removal was begun at unit 3 in August of last year (2013), using primarily robots and remote control heavy equipment.

Cesium contamination of areas well outside the no-go zone has led to a new NRA inquiry, and the 1.1 trillion bq. figure was given by TEPCO in that inquiry.

Their estimate for a total 4 hour release on August 19, 2013. TEPCO further admits that over the next 12.5 years, the facility will continue to release an estimated (again by TEPCO) 10 million bequerels per hour.

Which is less when all totaled than this "extra" contamination from the unit 3 debris removal.
Which is continuing.

One may wonder when TEPCO and the Japanese government will put all this together to finally set to rest the idiotic notion that Fukushima's three meltdowns, 2 spent fuel pool fires and 4 exploded reactor buildings were somehow LESS of a nuclear disaster than Chernobyl.

This huge release was airborne, not the constant release to the Pacific Ocean from groundwater flow underneath the reactor plants.
The debris removal at unit 3 (and the other destroyed reactor plants) is and will long be ongoing.

Water contamination is certainly bad for organic life forms that live in the sea, but it's atmospheric contamination that presents the biggest hazard to land-dwelling human beings.

Which helps explain why Japanese doctors and epidemiologists have been calling for expanded health exams for people outside the exclusion zone and as far away as Tokyo. The Japanese government, of course, subscribes to the notion that smiling people are not harmed by radiation, so no one really needs to stress out about it.

Just an update on the ever after nuclear disaster at Fukushima, and a reminder to those following to keep their guard up - it's not over yet.

THE SADDEST TRUTH...THE EFFECTS ON JAPANESE CHILDREN

Katsutaka Idogawa, former mayor of Futaba, a town near the disabled Fukushima nuclear plant, is warning his country that radiation contamination is affecting Japan’s greatest treasure – its children.

Asked about government plans to relocate the people of Fatuba to the city of Iwaki, inside the Fukushima prefecture, Idogawa criticized the move as a “violation of human rights.”

Compared with Chernobyl, radiation levels around Fukushima “are four times higher,” he told RT’s Sophie Shevardnadze, adding that “it’s too early for people to come back to Fukushima prefecture.”

“It is by no means safe, no matter what the government says.”
Idogawa alleges that the government has started programs to return people to their towns despite the danger of radiation.
“Fukushima Prefecture has launched the Come Home campaign.

In many cases, evacuees are forced to return. [the former mayor produced a map of Fukushima Prefecture that showed that air contamination decreased a little, but soil contamination remains the same.]"
According to Idogawa there are about two million people residing in the prefecture who are reporting “all sorts of medical issues,” but the government insists these conditions are unrelated to the Fukushima accident. Idogawa wants their denial in writing.

“I demanded that the authorities substantiate their claim in writing but they ignored my request.”
Once again, Idogawa alludes to the nuclear tragedy that hit Ukraine on April 26, 1986, pleading that the Japanese people “never forget Chernobyl.” Yet few people seem to be heeding the former government official’s warning.
“They believe what the government says, while in reality radiation is still there. This is killing children. They die of heart conditions, asthma, leukemia, thyroiditis… Lots of kids are extremely exhausted after school; others are simply unable to attend PE classes.

But the authorities still hide the truth from us, and I don’t know why.
Don’t they have children of their own?
It hurts so much to know they can’t protect our children.

“They say Fukushima Prefecture is safe, and that’s why nobody’s working to evacuate children, move them elsewhere. We’re not even allowed to discuss this.”

As to the workers involved in the cleanup operations Idogawa  says:
“Their equipment was getting worse; preparation was getting worse. So people had to think about their safety first. That’s why those who understood the real danger of radiation began to quit. Now we have unprofessional people working there.

When pressed on the details of a United Nations report that says there have been no radiation-related deaths or acute diseases observed among the workers and general public, Idogawa dismisses it as “completely false,” before providing some of his own experiences at the height of the crisis.

“When I was mayor, I knew many people who died from heart attacks, and then there were many people in Fukushima who died suddenly, even among young people. It’s a real shame that the authorities hide the truth from the whole world, from the UN. We need to admit that actually many people are dying. We are not allowed to say that but TEPCO employees also are dying. But they keep mum about it.”
When asked to provide solid figures on the actual number of people who died under such circumstances, Idogawa refrained, saying “it’s not just one or two people. We’re talking about ten to twenty people who died this way.”
Asked about other options that Japan has for providing energy sources to its 126 million people, he responded that despite having many rivers, the government neglects to promote hydro energy.
Why? Because it’s not “profitable for big companies!”

"Everyone is worried about the radiation", says the mother of seven-year-old Chie. Children from the surrounding areas are not allowed to play outside and cattle have developed a new disease. The traffic lights are still working, but just about nothing else is in the ghost town. The continued fears over health risks mix with a sense of a betrayal by the government. "Japanese government policy is very strange. We have been deceived by the government and the electric company." Despite voluntary efforts to revitalise the area, it seems there is little hope of reversing the fate of this radioactive wasteland. "There has been no progress. Things have not changed."

Use of MOx heightened fuel risk
 March 17, 2011
http://www.livescience.com/33126-what-is-mox-nuclear-reactors.html
MOX came into use in the 1980s as a way of disposing of surplus weapons-grade plutonium. There are some 260 tonnes of military plutonium in world stockpiles which, if they weren't used as fuel, would have to be disposed of as nuclear waste.

One facility where purely-uranium fuel gets reprocessed to become MOX is the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in Japan.

Reactor Unit 3 burns MOX fuel made of 94 percent uranium and 6 percent plutonium.

When alpha-emitters get inside cells, on the other hand, they are extremely hazardous. Alpha rays sent out from within cells cause somewhere between 10 and 1,000 times more chromosomal damage than beta or gamma rays.

Plutonium enters the bloodstream via the lungs, then moves throughout the body and into the bones, liver, and other organs. It generally stays in those places for decades, subjecting surrounding organs and tissues to a continual bombardment of alpha radiation and greatly increasing the risk of cancer, especially lung cancer, liver cancer and bone sarcoma.
There are documented cases of workers at nuclear weapons facilities dying within days of experiencing brief accidental exposure to plutonium, according to the Hazardous Substances Data Bank.
Furthermore, among all the bad things coming out of Fukushima, plutonium will stay in the environment the longest. One isotope of plutonium, Pu-239, has a half-life of 24,100 years; that's the time it will take for half of the stuff to radioactively decay. Radioactive contaminants are dangerous for 10 to 20 times the length of their half-lives, meaning that dangerous plutonium released to the environment today will stick around for the next half a million years.
Fukushima Daiichi Unit 3 was fuelled with mixed oxide (MOx), which is about
93% uranium and 7% plutonium.

HOW RADIATION AFFECTS THE HUMAN BODY.http://www.livescience.com/35551-nuclear-radiation-causes-effects-human-body.html

Plutonium, along with all of the other transuranium elements, is a radiological hazard and must be handled with specialized equipment and precautions. Animal studies have found that a few milligrams of plutonium per kilogram of tissue are lethal.

http://www.livescience.com/39871-facts-about-plutonium.html?li_source=LI&li_medium=most-popular
Trace elements of plutonium are found in naturally occurring uranium ores. Here, it is formed in a way similar to neptunium: by irradiation of natural uranium with neutrons followed by beta decay.

Primarily, however, plutonium is a by-product of nuclear reactions in reactors where some of the neutrons released by fission convert
238U nuclei into plutonium.

Fission of a kilogram of 239Pu can produce an explosion as big as 21,000 tons of TNT.
Plutonium has 23 known isotopes. All are radioactive and range in mass from 228 to 247. Most of the isotopes have half-lives less than 7,000 years. Nine of the isotopes exhibit metastable states, though they have half-lives of less than one second. The longest living isotopes are 244Pu (half-life of 80.8 million years) 242Pu (half-life 373,300 years), and 239Pu (half-life of 24,110 years).

Radioactive iodine tends to be absorbed by the thyroid gland and can cause thyroid cancer, said Dr. Lydia Zablotska, an assistant professor in the department of epidemiology and biostatistics at the University of California, San Francisco.
But radioactive iodine is short-lived and will be around for only about two months after an accident, said Andre Bouville of the National Cancer Institute.

THE DAMNABLE PLANT IS LEAKING RADIOACTIVE IODINE AND EVERY OTHER IMAGINABLE RADIONUCLIDE EVERY FREAKING DAY, AS TEPCO ITSELF ADMITS...EVERY DAY!

EVERY DAY WE GET RADIATION, INTO THE AIR, WATER, SOIL, EVERY BLOODY DAY!

Children are most at risk for thyroid cancer, since their thyroid glands are 10 times smaller than those of adults, he said. The radioactive iodine would be more concentrated in them.
Radioactive cesium, on the other hand, can stay in the environment for more than a century. But it does not concentrate in one part of the body the way radioactive iodine does.
The Chernobyl accident released a plume of radioactive materials into the atmosphere in a fraction of a second. In the following years, the incidence of thyroid cancer among those exposed as children increased in Ukraine and nearby countries, Zablotska said. The cancer showed up between four and 10 years after the accident, Bouville said.
Children were exposed to radioactive material mainly from eating contaminated leafy vegetables and dairy.

CESIUM FROM 'FUKU' IS A DAILY THING!
IT EMITS ALL THE SAME TYPES OF RADIATION TODAY THAT IT WAS EMITTING THE FIRST DAY, THE FIRST WEEK...ON AND ON FOREVER!

Potentially, exposure to any type of radiation can increase cancer risk, with higher exposure increasing the risk, Bouville said."
