Police had started scanning high-definition security cameras to identify and arrest looters.
Chicago police raised city bridges to restrict access to the downtown area to quash looting and rioting that has plagued the city for days.
Cops warned looters that "we're coming for you" after a night of chaos saw 13 cops hurt and more than 100 arrests.
Video shared on social media showed stores, including Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Nordstrom, Walgreens, and Coach, being looted throughout Chicago.
Pictures showed debris scattered around, as business windows were broken.
Store shelves were seen wiped clean, as people came through and swiped products from the shelves.
Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown said the incident “was NOT an organized protest” but rather “an incident of pure criminality."
City Mayor Lori Lightfoot condemned the actions.
"This was straight up, felony criminal conduct,” Lightfoot said. “This was an assault on our city.” Lightfoot said people will face charges including looting, battery against police, and disorderly conduct, The Associated Press reported.
ABC states that hundreds of looters gathered in an "affluent" section of Chicago, breaking out windows of upscale shops, stealing contents, stealing vehicles in a "coordinated" effort, a caravan of hundreds of vandals who robbed these stores for over four hours.
Several shots were fired at police, none were struck.
Black Lives Matter organizer calls Chicago looting ‘reparation’
A Chicago Black Lives Matter organizer defended widespread looting in the Windy City over the weekend.
“I don’t care if somebody decides to loot a Gucci’s or a Macy’s or a Nike because that makes sure that that person eats. That makes sure that that person has clothes,” organizer Ariel Atkins said at a rally outside the South Loop police station Monday, WMAQ-TV reported.
“That’s a reparation,” Atkins said. “Anything they want to take, take it because these businesses have insurance.”
The 'rally' was held in the wake of a violent weekend in the city that saw 100 arrests and 13 police officers injured after a 20-year-old man was shot and wounded by cops after firing at officers.
The officers returned fire, wounding the gunman, who was transported to University of Chicago Hospital.
Police identified the man shot by officers as Latrell Allen, who was shot in the shoulder after opening fire on cops, Police Superintendent David Brown said at a press conference Monday.
Allen was recovering at the University of Chicago Hospital and is expected to survive to face attempted murder charges.
Police conceded the officers involved in the shooting did not have body cameras and are asking the community for any videos of the incident, according to WMAQ.

Several protesters held a banner that read, “Our futures have been looted from us ... loot back.”
ATKINS INCITES LOOTING AGAIN.
Ariel Atkins, an organizer, said the demonstration was put together as a response to the police-involved shooting Sunday in Englewood, where a 20-year-old man was injured after police said he fired shots at officers, and to support and seek the release of those who were arrested during the downtown looting that followed.
“There’s no such thing as a bad protester,” Atkins said. “Also, (we’re) demanding that police be defunded. Police should not be here. They should not exist...We don’t need police,” she said. “We need care.”
Atkins said people are also hungry, unemployed and need resources, which boiled over into people resorting to looting.

The violence prompted the city to deploy “multi-layered” security measures that will restrict access to downtown Chicago from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. as of Monday.
The measures call for bus service to be suspended, highway ramps to be closed, and all but seven of the 18 Loop bridges in the city remaining open — with police checkpoints.
Police Superintendent David Brown said during a press briefing Monday that the looting was sparked as a result of misinformation that cops had shot and wounded a child, WGN reported.
The 20-year-old man who was shot is expected to survive, said Brown, who added that the suspect had several previous arrests including charges of burglary, child endangerment and domestic battery, according to the station.
No cops were injured during the incident and a gun was recovered at the scene.
Brown and Mayor Lori Lightfoot emphasized that the looting was not a part of an organized protest.
Alderman Brian Hopkins told WGN he saw people driving up in vehicles, smashing windows of stores on Michigan Avenue, grabbing merchandise and driving away.
Police and witnesses later said a crowd of about 30 people faced off against cops near 56th and Aberdeen streets.
Some people were seen running out of a damaged PNC Bank at Huron and State streets, while nearby stores also were cleaned out by looters.
“We do have an officer that was maced by someone in the crowd. We do have an officer that sustained a shoulder injury from the incident with the crowd,” Deputy Police Chief Delonda Tally said, Fox 32 reported.
“One of our [police] vehicles, the windows were shattered by a brick,” Tally added.

23-year-old Jermaine Brown was listed in “critical but stable” condition at Toledo Hospital after he was “shot at least one time,” police sources said.

In another such case, LaDonna Brave Bull Allard, who founded Sacred Stone Camp, said that when her daughter was arrested and taken into custody she was "strip-searched in front of multiple male officers, then left for hours in her cell, naked and freezing."
Cody Hall from Cheyenne River Reservation in South Dakota also reported being strip-searched. He was held for four days without bail or bond and then charged with two misdemeanors.

The Morton County Sheriff's Department said in a statement: "Protesters' escalated unlawful behavior this weekend by setting up illegal roadblocks, trespassing onto private property and establishing an encampment, has forced law enforcement to respond at this time. I can't stress it enough, this is a public safety issue.
We cannot have protesters blocking county roads, blocking state highways, or trespassing on private property."

And they used all of it. I mean, it was frightening to watch."

--On the 2015 National Assessment of Educational Progress, only 18 percent of African-American fourth-graders were proficient in reading and only 19 percent scored as proficient in math, according to an analysis by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation released Friday.
The eighth-grade numbers were even worse, with only 16 percent of African-American students proficient in reading and 13 percent proficient in math.
By comparison, the report said, the national average for proficiency among all students in fourth-grade reading was 36 percent, while it was 40 percent in fourth-grade math, 34 percent in eighth-grade reading and 33 percent in eighth-grade math.
"It is easy to look at this report and despair," its authors wrote. "It puts front and center the fact that too many of our nation's young people are failing to achieve their potential..."
For starters, there is a clear mismatch between graduation rates and rates of college readiness for African-American students in many states. For example, graduation rates for African-American students range from 84 percent in Texas to 57 percent in both Nevada and Oregon. But, according to data from the ACT test, the percentage of African-American students who are college-ready in English, math, reading, and science ranges from 17 percent in Massachusetts to only 3 percent in Mississippi.
Additionally, the report found that far too few African-American students are excelling in science, technology, engineering and math – or STEM – subjects. Only three states saw more than 5 percent of African-American students in their graduating class pass at least one Advanced Placement test in a STEM subject during high school, and four states saw less than 1 percent of African-American students graduate having passed one STEM subject exam."
