GOOGLE COOKIES AND THE EUROPEAN UNION

Google Notifying Searchers In EU That They Use Cookies

LOOK AT THAT DATE...2013.
IT'S VERY OLD NEWS THAT GOOGLE FORCES COOKIES.

HOWEVER, ONLY JUST NOW, ON SIGN-OUT, GOOGLE POPPED UP A NOTICE THAT THE TEA ROOM IS RESPONSIBLE FOR NOTIFYING EUROPEAN MEMBER NATIONS' READERS THAT, SINCE THE TEA ROOM IS A "GOOGLE BLOG", COOKIES MAY BE AN ISSUE.

I ASSURE YOU, THE TEA ROOM ITSELF LOATHES COOKIES, BUT GOOGLE, AS WE ALL KNOW, HAS BEEN OFTEN ACCUSED OF HELPING THE U.S. NATIONAL SECURITY AGENCY AND OTHER U.S. AGENCIES COLLECT DATA ON USERS, SO THIS MAY HAVE PROMPTED RENEWED EFFORTS BY THE EU TO MAKE SEARCHERS AWARE OF THIS?

THE SAME APPLIES FOR FACEBOOK AND OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA SITES, "HANDY HELPERS" FOR AMERICA'S "BIG BROTHER SYSTEM" THAT WATCHES US ALL.

A REMINDER THEN, FROM 2013:
http://searchengineland.com/google-uk-notifying-searchers-that-they-use-cookies-154833

"If you search for anything at Google UK or on any of the 27 localized versions of Google in the European Union, Google will now prompt you with a notification that they are using cookies to provide search results to you. In fact, Google says that by using Google search you are agreeing to allow Google to place cookies on your computer.
Here is the prompt you will see when searching on Google UK:

Clicking on the “learn more” link takes you to this page where Google explains what cookies are and how they may use them. Google also shares a video which you can watch that explains this, as well. Google says they use cookies to “remember your safe search preferences, to make the ads that you see more relevant to you, to count how many visitors we receive to a page, to help you sign up for our services and to protect your data.
For more on the EU’s cookie law, see our stories named:

GOOGLE, NOW, 2 YEARS AFTER THIS, NOTIFIES ME THAT YOU SHOULD BE SEEING THAT WHEN YOU VISIT THE TEA ROOM NOW, YOU IN THE EUROPEAN UNION, OR WHEN YOU WATCH YOUTUBE VIDEO, OR DO A GOOGLE SEARCH, ETC. WTH???

TRACKING COOKIES SHOULD BE ILLEGAL.

THE TEA ROOM IS OF THE OPINION THAT ANYTHING THAT TRACKS A HUMAN BEING WITHOUT HIS/HER EXPRESS CONSENT SHOULD BE PUNISHED WITH A LITTLE PRISON TIME AND A HELLUVA FINE.

Why is this important?

European laws require that digital publishers give visitors to their sites and apps information about their use of cookies and other forms of local storage. In many cases these laws also require that consent be obtained.
This site is produced by Google. We work with lots of publisher partners and, based on that experience, we wanted to provide any publishers with easy-to-implement tools that can help them meet their legal obligations to get user consent.

What do I need to do?

There’s guidance from data protection authorities (see below) across Europe on what is required to comply with relevant laws. We also recommend seeking legal advice on what’s right for your website or app, though we recognize that many publishers don’t have access to legal advice.
There are vendors that offer tools or solutions to add a cookie consent function to your website, some of which are free of charge. For example:

A LIST OF "VENDORS"...

WELL, IT'S NEWS TO ME THAT I MUST BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY WEB PAGE THAT GOOGLE CONTROLS, SO, IF THE TEA ROOM GOES DARK, IT'S BECAUSE OF THIS...

I WILL NOT EXERT EFFORT TO BE IN COMPLIANCE.
IF GOOGLE FAILS TO PLACE ITS OWN WARNING HERE, THEN GOOGLE MAY FEEL FREE TO SHUT DOWN THE HEMLOCK TEA ROOM AND LADIES' EMPORIUM.

I NEVER DID WORK CHEAPLY AND WON'T WORK FOR FREE, SO NOPE...
HERE'S THE NOTICE, THE END...

THE TEA ROOM REFUSES ADS AND EVEN COMMENTS THAT TRY TO DROP LINKS TO BUSINESS SITES.
COMMENTS HERE ARE ALL MODERATED BY ME AND ME ALONE.

COOKIES SHOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE HERE!
I HAVE NEVER USED ONE!

THIS IS A NO-AD WEB PAGE!

MY CHARGE FOR GOING TO THE TROUBLE EXPOUNDED ON
https://www.cookiechoices.org/
WOULD BE IN THE $500 TO $1,000 RANGE....

BALL IS NOW IN GOOGLE'S COURT.

HIATUS WHILST WE HASH THIS OUT... MAYBE...

BE WELL, ALL.
