SYRIA AGREES TO CEASEFIRE. NO WW III?

“We shall have world government whether or not you like it, by conquest or consent.”
~ Statement by Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) member James Warburg to The Senate Foreign Relations Committee on February 17th, l950.

YESTERDAY, SYRIA ANNOUNCED ITS WILLINGNESS FOR A PEACEFUL SOLUTION TO ITS CRISIS.

"Syria is ready to participate in the Syrian-Syrian Dialogue in Geneva without any foreign interference," Mr. Muallem told reporters in Beijing on Thursday following a meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi.
"We hope that this dialogue will be successful to help us in having a national unity government," he added."

UN chief Ban Ki-moon to report by 18 January on how to monitor ceasefire."

AND THE WAILS OF OUR WAR MERCHANTS WERE HEARD THROUGHOUT THE LAND.
"NOOOO! NOT PEACE, ANYTHING BUT PEACE!"

CHINA'S FOREIGN MINISTER WANG YI MADE AN INTERESTING OBSERVATION:
"Mr. Wang said the Chinese and Syrian governments had agreed on three principles that "should be upheld throughout the whole peace process".
"We should stick to the peaceful resolution of Syrian issue, the people of Syria should decide the future and fate of Syria, and the UN plays a key role in negotiations," he added."

WHAT?!
IS HE NUTS?
LET EACH NATION'S PEOPLE DECIDE THE FATE OF THEIR OWN NATION?!

THAT IS NOT ALLOWED!

SYRIA SEEMS WILLING, BUT NOT THE "WEST".

"Syria's foreign minister says his country is ready to participate in peace talks in Geneva "without any foreign interference," nearly a week after the United Nations Security Council approved an international plan for a peace process to end the civil war in Syria.

The minister, Walid Moallem, was speaking Thursday in Beijing, where he met with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi.  Moallem said the Syrian delegation will be ready as soon as it receives a list of opposition representatives to the peace talks.

Moallem did not explain what he meant by "foreign interference," but said the Damascus government hopes a dialogue can help establish a national unity government in Syria.
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has declared last week's Security Council resolution "a milestone" in the effort to resolve the war in Syria, and he predicts diplomatic efforts will move forward rapidly in the New Year.

The resolution expresses support for a Syrian-led political process facilitated by the United Nations. It calls for intra-Syrian peace talks and sets a target of six months for establishing a transitional government, followed by elections within 18 months."

WHICH NATION HAS NOT CAPITULATED TO "INTERNATIONAL PRESSURE" BY EITHER THE UNITED NATIONS, WORLD TRADE ORGANIZATION, INTERNATIONAL MONETARY FUND, WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION, OR SMALLER "POWER GROUPS" WHICH ARE FIELDED BY AND FINANCED BY A RELATIVELY SMALL, BUT ELITE, CIRCLE OF INDIVIDUALS?

THE TIGHTLY KNIT, EXCLUSIVE "POLITICAL/ECONOMIC SYSTEM" INCESSANTLY PRODS, PUSHES, AND DICTATES TO EVERY NATION, CAUSING CONSTANT ANTAGONISM, AN INCESSANT "STIRRING OF THE POT" WHICH IS SOMETIMES BROUGHT TO FULL BOIL SO THAT THE WORLD, THE ENTIRE WORLD, CAN "GO TO WAR".

THE BLIND COULD SEE HOW INTERNATIONAL TYRANNICAL DICTATORS POLARIZE ONE GROUP OF NATIONS AGAINST ANOTHER, CREATING, UNRAVELLING AND RECREATING "BLOCS" TO SUIT THEM.

CURRENTLY, TODAY, PERHAPS THE ONLY "WORLD POWER" NOT BENDING COMPLETELY TO SUCH PRESSURE IS RUSSIA...FOR NOW.

A relative and I were just talking about the scenario being played out in Syria, the Middle East, the attempt to bankrupt Russia, to curtail China's plan for global economic dominance.

He mentioned his concern on the latest move here in the U.S. by our Congress to assure Wall Street of immense profits, rallying the "Street", assuaging fears amongst the CEOs of major corporations that cheap oil would see their FINANCIAL ruin, handing them everything they wanted, including that wee hike in interest rates which will strengthen BIG banks and strap small ones and gouge all but the richest here, promoting an American recession/depression yet again.

Then there is that happy news that America's Big Oil boys can start shipping out American oil as quickly as they please, which should make for huge profits for them at home as America's populace pays higher prices at the pumps, more money for home heating and the transport of goods raising the prices of everything.

Finally, but perhaps of greater importance, is the hope, maybe even the "golden promise", of a protracted "war" anywhere on earth, which can only be GOOD for those who sell the machinery of wars.

Ever since we lied to the world and SAID we were getting out of the Middle East, Wall Street has whined, wept, sent lobbyists and gift-givers up to the brothel on the Hill to cajole Congress into making things all better again.

Alas, we said, Syria suggested late yesterday that it might be in a capitulative mood, just might see its way clear to wrap this thing up, go to the bargaining table, or whatever we'd like to call that place where leaders of nations bow and kiss the behinds of the "Masters of the Universe"..

WHAT CAN THE ALMIGHTY POWERS DO TO PROVOKE THAT BIG WAR THEY SO LONG FOR?
IF SYRIA BOWS AND KISSES, THEN WHAT?

MANIPULATE ISRAEL TO ATACK IRAN, OR IRAN TO LOB A FEW MISSILES AT ISRAEL?
Then the "SuperPowers" could take sides, gear up for nuclear nightmare.
THAT would make the Street and its puppetmasters ecstatic!
But many doubt that would do it, though it might.

STIR UP THE TROUBLED, ALREADY SCRAMBLED BRAIN OF NORTH KOREA'S MANIAC, KIM JUNG-UN?
Naaaah, that would me too minor a thing.
Who hasn't heard the North Korean jokes about the "threat" of  North Korea being only a silly fairy tale?

LET AMERICA HAVE AN "ACCIDENT" IN THE SOUTH CHINA SEA AND EITHER "ACCIDENTALLY" ATTACK SOME CHINESE SHIP OR BE ATTACKED BY CHINA?
That might do it.
China is not averse to nuclear war, not one whit.

CLAIM RUSSIA KILLED THE POPE?
Naaah, they'd have to produce a body...but then again, they never produced one when they claimed to have killed bin Laden...
Still , which nations would retaliate in a nuclear way for that?

WHAT WILL IT TAKE, WE WONDERED?
HOW WILL THEY GET THAT WORLD WAR THREE?

COULD THE JEW-HATING NEW YORK TIMES PROVOKE AMERICANS INTO BOMBING THE ETERNAL HELL OUT OF ISRAEL BY SHOWING NETANYAHU DINING ON BARBEQUED PALESTINIAN BABIES?

THE NYT COULD, ALONE AND SINGLE-HANDEDLY, PUMP OUT AT LEAST 100 ARTICLES A DAY LIKE <THIS ONE> AND <THIS ONE>, AND EVEN <THIS ONE> TO ELEVATE JEW-HATING TO A NAZI-ISH LEVEL.
But, nope, that still wouldn't bring on WW3....SORRY, NEW YORK TIMES.

[AND, JUST A BTW, EVEN REMOVING YOUR JEW-BASHING COLUMNS LIKE YOU DID WON'T HIDE WHAT YOU ARE.]

WE ALREADY HAVE WORLD WAR.
We're basically in a third "world war" right now, all against ISIS, ISIS against the world, but that's getting 'old', few take that seriously as ISIS is a world away and NOT seen by enough as the big bad wolf.

America can keep resupplying and reviving ISIS all it wants, it's just not going to be BIG enough to bring about nuclear holocaust.

NOW WHAT?

Maybe a few more "homegrown terrorists" shooting a few hundred innocent folks here?
Maybe finding evidence in this week's "border sweep" that Iranian and ISIS and HAMAS and Hezbollah infiltrators are scattered across America with dirty bombs, vials of anthrax, etc?

INCITE FEAR, INSTILL TERROR?

I'M NOT CONVINCED THAT WILL WORK FOR MUCH LONGER.
TOO MANY AMERICANS HAVE HAD A LOOK BEHIND THAT CURTAIN AND SEEN THE REAL "WIZARD OF OZ".

EVEN JIMMY CARTER CAN CALL IT WHAT IT IS?
IMAGINE THAT!

"The civil war in Syria could end with a diplomatic solution involving the United States, Russia, Iran, Turkey and Saudi Arabia — but "the proud nations that claim to want peace … refuse to cooperate with one another," former Democratic President Jimmy Carter said Saturday.

"The needed concessions are not from the combatants in Syria," Carter, 91, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002, said in an op-ed piece in The New York Times.
[NYT AGAIN? THAT FIGURES SINCE CARTER IS ALMOST RABIDLY AGAINST ISRAEL BEING A NATION.]

TELL US, JIMMY, WHY WON'T THIS WORK?
"In May 2015, a group of global leaders known as the Elders visited Moscow, where we had detailed discussions with the American ambassador, former President Mikhail S. Gorbachev, former Prime Minister Yevgeny M. Primakov, Foreign Minister Sergey V. Lavrov and representatives of international think tanks, including the Moscow branch of the Carnegie Center.

They pointed out the longstanding partnership between Russia and the Assad regime and the great threat of the Islamic State to Russia, where an estimated 14 percent of its population are Sunni Muslims. Later, I questioned President Putin about his support for Mr. Assad, and about his two sessions that year with representatives of factions from Syria. He replied that little progress had been made, and he thought that the only real chance of ending the conflict was for the United States and Russia to be joined by Iran, Turkey and Saudi Arabia in preparing a comprehensive peace proposal. He believed that all factions in Syria, except the Islamic State, would accept almost any plan endorsed strongly by these five, with Iran and Russia supporting Mr. Assad and the other three backing the opposition. With his approval, I relayed this suggestion to Washington.

For the past three years, the Carter Center has been working with Syrians across political divides, armed opposition group leaders and diplomats from the United Nations and Europe to find a political path for ending the conflict. This effort has been based on data-driven research about the Syrian catastrophe that the center has conducted, which reveals the location of different factions and clearly shows that neither side in Syria can prevail militarily.

The recent decision by Russia to support the Assad regime with airstrikes and other military forces has intensified the fighting, raised the level of armaments and may increase the flow of refugees to neighboring countries and Europe. At the same time, it has helped to clarify the choice between a political process in which the Assad regime assumes a role and more war in which the Islamic State becomes an even greater threat to world peace. With these clear alternatives, the five nations mentioned above could formulate a unanimous proposal. Unfortunately, differences among them persist.

Iran outlined a general four-point sequence several months ago, consisting of a cease-fire, formation of a unity government, constitutional reforms and elections. Working through the United Nations Security Council and utilizing a five-nation proposal, some mechanism could be found to implement these goals.

The involvement of Russia and Iran is essential. Mr. Assad’s only concession in four years of war was giving up chemical weapons, and he did so only under pressure from Russia and Iran. Similarly, he will not end the war by accepting concessions imposed by the West, but is likely to do so if urged by his allies.

Mr. Assad’s governing authority could then be ended in an orderly process, an acceptable government established in Syria, and a concerted effort could then be made to stamp out the threat of the Islamic State.

The needed concessions are not from the combatants in Syria, but from the proud nations that claim to want peace but refuse to cooperate with one another."

REALLY, JIMMY?
IT'S THE CONFLICT BETWEEN THE BIG FIVE THAT KEEPS THE WAR GOING?

HOW DID YOU FIGURE THAT ONE OUT?

OTHERS HAVE KNOWN IT SINCE ASSAD FELL OUT OF FAVOR WITH THE WEST.
AMERICA HAS TRIED TO BANKRUPT RUSSIA SINCE THE INFAMOUS "WANTA PLAN" AND FAILED.
SAUDI ARABIA IS DELUSIONAL IN THINKING IT CAN DO WHAT REAGAN, TWO BUSHES, CLINTON AND NOW OBAMA COULDN'T DO... BREAK RUSSIA.

NO, ASSAD STOPPED BOOT-LICKING THE GLOBAL ELITE...

LIKE MUBARAK, GADDAFI, HUSSEIN DID...

STOP KISSING 'SUPER-POWER' BUTT, DOWN YOU GO!

THAT'S THE RULE FOR ALL , RIGHT?

WELL, WE STILL HAVE TO HAVE A BIG WAR.

READERS OF THE TEA ROOM CAN SEND THEIR SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO MANAGE TO PULL THAT PROLONGED BIG WAR OFF TO...
