TROUBLE AT THE POLLS...YET AGAIN!
Connecticut was among the hardest hit , according to reports. Lawyers for Gov. Daniel Malloy asked a judge to keep Hartford polling places open for extended hours after a slew of issues kept voters from casting their ballots at at least four sites. One site had no monitors. At another 23 polling places, registration books did not arrive in time.
"They didn't distribute any voter lists to any of the locations before 6 a.m. ET and it took almost two hours to get it all resolved," said Av Harris, a spokesman for the Connecticut Secretary of State. The lists are usually distributed at 5 a.m. ET.
"OOPS"???
TEXAS WAS HARD-HT BY VOTING ISSUES, TOO!
In Texas, where a strict voter ID law is in place for the first time in a major election, the state emailed counties Tuesday morning to inform them that the statewide voter registration system was down.
[NO SURPRISE IN THAT, IS THERE?]
According to Janice Evans, elections director for Brazoria County, it remained down at noon local time. That meant poll workers were unable to access information about a voter's registration status, likely leading many voters to have to cast provisional ballots.
A spokeswoman for the secretary of state's office said: "It's one less option for voters to find their polling place. It's now working intermittently."
And of course, a large but unknown number of voters WERE AGAIN disenfranchised by the ID law. Several Texans spoke to MSNBC Monday about the massive bureaucratic hurdles they went through as they tried UNSUCCESSFULLY to get ID.
In Harris County, the state's largest county, machines at several polling places weren't working. At the West Gray site near downtown Houston, where only two machines were working for much of the morning, some voters said they waited an hour and a quarter to cast a ballot.
Another nearby site was down entirely for the first hour of voting due to electrical problems. Maureen Haver, an election protection activist with Common Cause Texas, said voters who had to leave because of the delay were NOT offered the chance to cast a provisional ballot.
So not only is the state GOP's new "purposefully discriminatory" and "unconstitutional" polling place Photo ID restrictions (according to the federal judge who struck down the state's law after a full trial) causing problems for voters as expected and reported ALL OVER THE INTERNET, the 100% unverifiable electronic voting systems used in Harris County (Houston), a Democratic stronghold in the state, went down, leaving voters without the ability to vote at all.
[WHAT??? A DEMOCRATIC STRONGHOLD HAD ALL THESE PROBLEMS? I'M SURE THAT WAS MERE COINCIDENCE....NOT.]
PROBLEMS IN GEORGIA
MANY problems in Georgia where a progressive voter registration drive resulted in more than 100,000 new registrations in the Peach State, but where the Republican Sec. of State was simply denying charges that some 50,000 of those registrations never made it into the system. That problem --- and others related to it --- are undermining voters and election integrity in the state today...
Meanwhile in Georgia, thousands of voters were left in limbo and unsure whether they can cast a ballot because the secretary of state's office failed to process approximately 40,000 applications IN TIME.
A voter registration group sued the state to force it to act, but the suit was dismissed last month.
Making the problem worse, the secretary of state's website was not working for much of the morning, leaving voters unable to access information about their registration status and polling place.
Election Protection, a group that monitors voting problems, said it had received reports that voters have not been able to reach their board of elections.
[THERE ARE PROBLEMS? JUST DON'T ANSWER THE PHONE! <snicker, let 'em call! Nobody home! snicker...>
"This is completely unacceptable, especially in light of the unprocessed registrations in major counties and voter concerns about participating in this critical election," said Lawyers' Committee President and Executive Director Barbara Arnwine. "The state of Georgia had a responsibility to ensure that their website and phone resources were operational and available to voters at all times, yet the website continues to have ongoing problems."
[FOR THE GOP, "IT AIN'T BROKE, SO WE DON'T FIX IT!"]
UH-OH IN NORTH CAROLINA:
In North Carolina, which passed its own restrictive voting law last year, the wrong voter rolls were sent to a polling site just down the street from Bennett College, a historically black college in Greensboro, poll monitors said.
For a couple hours, monitors said, the proper rolls hadn't arrived, so voters were allowed to vote but it's unclear if they were able to cast ballots or vote provisionally.
In Boone, near Appalachian State University, poll monitors reported that some people were yelling at voters that they needed an ID to vote.
NOT TRUE!
In fact, the state's voter ID provision doesn't take effect until 2016.
And in another uh-oh situation, according to local news reports, two precincts in Cumberland County received the wrong thumb drives for the voting machines that were sent.
[WHAT? THOSE THUMB DRIVES WEREN'T APPROVED BY THE GOP? SHOCKING FAILURE ON SOME HACKER'S PART! ALL THOSE MACHINES SHOULD CAST REPUBLICAN BALLOTS!]
There was also evidence of the problems caused by a provision of the state's voting law that bans out-of-precinct voting, which used to be allowed in North Carolina. A video posted by the Center for American Progress Action Fund shows BLACK voters expressing confusion after being told they couldn't vote at the site they went to, despite having been able to do so in the past.
African-American voters are crucial to Democratic chances in close Senate races in North Carolina, AS WELL AS MOST SOUTHERN STATES.
The problems in North Carolina come on top of recent reports of votes flipping on 100% unverifiable touch-screen voting systems, which many voters are still forced to use in the Tar Heel State. The reports there, to date, have concerned votes flipping from the Democratic incumbent Sen. Kay Hagan to her Republican challenger Tom Tillis.

ON TO ALABAMA:
An Alabama county notified a 92-year old woman Monday that her absentee ballot wouldn't count because her public housing ID isn't allowed under the law, according to Deuel Ross, a lawyer with the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund.
The woman has been voting at least since the 1960's, her daughter told Ross.
The NAACP argues such IDs should be allowed because housing officers are acting as federal agents. The law says any photo ID issued by the state or the U.S. is acceptable. But a lawyer for the Alabama secretary of state's office told Ross in an email Monday that it's the state's policy not to accept public housing IDs.
"It's really disappointing to be encountering voters who are ready and able to vote. who are being turned away because they lack voter ID, when they've voted in the past with a public housing ID," Ross said.

The bulk of problems in elections often don't begin to reveal themselves until after the election, often days, weeks (or even longer) afterwards.
Voter Purges Focused on Voters of Color May Have Affected Election Results in Several States
The odd move by many election officials of removing voters from the rolls because their names matched another voter likely accounts for Republican victories in the Senate races in North Carolina and Colorado and the governor’s race in Kansas.
In North Carolina, where Republican Thom Tillis won over incumbent Sen. Kay Hagan by just 48,511 votes, the voter purging system known as Crosscheck tagged an alarming 589,393 North Carolinians as POSSIBLE "illegal double voters" (though state elections officials cut that down to roughly "ONLY" 190,000), according to news reports.
In Colorado, where Republican Cory Gardner beat incumbent Democratic Senator Mark Udall, there were 300,842 of the state’s voters subject to being purged from the voter rolls.
While the public had been focused on Republican efforts to restrict voting by implementing voter ID laws, the stealth campaign was ongoing in 27 states to COMPLETELY ERASE millions of people — PARTICULARLY Blacks, Hispanics and Asians — from the rolls by claiming they are double voters who are committing fraud by voting in more than one state at a time, according to a nationwide investigation.
Interstate Crosscheck generated a list of nearly 7 million names of voters whose names also appear in another state — an "INDICATION" [NOT A PROVEN FACT!], according to state officials, that these voters are committing voter fraud by voting in more than one state. Though it’s not yet clear how many of those voters were stopped from voting on Nov. 4, officials had the potential to stop millions from voting in the midterm elections, which observers suspected helped to dramatically tilt the results in favor of the Republican Party.
In states like Virgina, more than 41,000 voters were removed from the rolls using the Crosscheck list.
After officials in three states — Georgia, Virginia and Washington — turned their Crosscheck lists over to a news team, lists representing more than 2 million names, the publication was able to determine just how ridiculously inadequate the name-matching system used by Interstate Crosscheck is.
Crosscheck compiled its lists by matching names from roughly 110 million voter records from the 27 participating states, a process that has been spearheaded by Kansas’ controversial Republican secretary of state, Kris Kobach, who has made a name for himself as a crusader against voter fraud.
Of the 27 participating states, 20 have Republican secretaries of state, while seven are Democrats. The participating states are primarily concentrated in the South and Midwest.

But the news investigation showed middle names are commonly mismatched, suffix discrepancies are ignored, birth dates weren’t taken into account and the process deliberately ignores Social Security mismatches — in the few instances when the numbers are even collected.
In advising county election officials, Crosscheck’s instructions say, “Social Security numbers are included for verification; the numbers might or might not match.”
So ALL it really takes to become "SUSPECTED" of voter fraud — and potentially have your name scrubbed from the rolls so that you can’t vote — is to share a first and last name with a voter in another state.
North Carolina and Ohio have refused to release their Crosscheck lists, alleging that all the double counted voters, more than a million in the two states, are subjects of criminal investigation, which allows them to keep the information confidential.

Journalist Brad Friedman, who tracks vote suppression techniques state by state, said many of the so-called pre-election polling “errors” in predicting Democratic victories may actually have been Democratic votes lost to Crosscheck and several other vote suppression tactics such as Photo ID restrictions, missing voter registrations and a shortage of paper ballots.
Now that the PURGE of Crosscheck names has begun, election watchdogs predict it will likely have a bigger impact on the 2016 race than it did on the midterms.
For example in the state of Ohio, the ultimate presidential swing state, there are 469,201 voters on Ohio’s Crosscheck list. HOW MANY GET DELETED, scrubbed from the voter rolls could determine who will choose our next president: the voters or Crosscheck.

"New House GOP Rule Could Complicate a Paul Ryan Presidential Bid"
The rule would require committee chairmen to resign their leadership posts if they were to run for another office such as for president or for the Senate.
The rule was offered by Rep. Tom Cole, R-Okla., and was passed by voice vote at a closed door GOP organizing conference. House Republicans who support it say the measure was not aimed at Ryan.

Voter fraud is not always detected, and even when it is there is a hesitancy by officials to take the case to trial.
Often, the result is more just a "slap on the hands, accompanied by a stiff (but meaningless) warning.
Those who get caught with a more serious violation and actually go to trial rarely receive a stiff penalty. Thus, we continue to see our election rules and laws abused and/or "CHANGED" each election cycle so as to keep voters AWAY from the polls.
Perpetrators, especially those in high places, know there is a low risk of exposure and have even less concern of receiving a harsh penalty.
IT IS MORE RARE FOR MAINSTREAM MEDIA TO SPOTLIGHT WHICH ELECTION OFFICIALS, PARTY LOYALISTS, AND THEIR LACKEYS ARE GUILTY!
The one way for all of us to make sure our vote is not being canceled , or that voter fraud, vote manipulation, voter PURGES was not the reason for a candidate’s victory, is to demand our state and federal officials get serious about enacting strong laws --LAWS THAT APPLY ACROSS THE BOARD, THAT AREN'T CHANGED, THAT ARE NOT "ENFORCED' BY ANY ONE PARTY OR ITS MEMBERS, BUT ARE AGREED UPON BY THE AMERICAN VOTING MAJORITY, OVERSEEN BY A 50/50 OR NON-PARTISAN WATCHDOG GROUP....AND BY VOTERS THEMSELVES.
Voter registration offices throughout the country, in every state and every county, must PROVE WITHOUT A DOUBT that their registration lists have illegal names BEFORE THEY PURGE ANYTHING, and people must be given AMPLE time in states with voter ID requirements to prove they are legally registered voters before being DENIED a ballot.
If we attended to voting like we do to registering for the draft, every 18-year-old in America could be registered to vote, EVERY YEAR!
