NIGERIA was a close 2nd with over 18,000 murders, and
SOUTH AFRICA is still a contender with 16,000.

ETHIOPIA, no one much tries to enforce any "gun regulations" admittedly., BUT "Applicants for a gun owner’s license in Ethiopia ARE required to prove
genuine reason to possess a firearm, for example, hunting, target
shooting, personal protection, security."
In NIGERIA, well, Nigeria has become the first Africa country to sign and ratify the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) the U.N. just shoved down America's throat, so Nigerians can kiss their "legal" weapons goodbye. In Nigeria, the right to private gun ownership is NOT guaranteed by law and
gun owners must re-apply and re-qualify for their firearm license EVERY YEAR.

SOUTH AFRICA,
owning a gun is conditional on a competency test and several other
factors, including background checking of the applicant, inspection of
an owner's premises, and licensing of the weapon by the police, this
introduced in July 2004.

BRAZIL IN 2012, where Brazilians killed other Brazilians to the tune of about 41,000.
Oh, by the way, although Brazil has 100 million fewer citizens than the United States,
and more restrictive gun laws, there are 25 percent more gun deaths there! Surprise!
MEXICO came in at 2nd place with a bit over 27,000 homicide victims. I can just hear all you
"illegal immigrant" haters saying, "SEE! I TOLD YOU SO!"

Here's a newsflash for those folks...
In the five years prior to 2012, over two-thirds of illegal firearms
seized in Mexico that could be traced to a source, were traced back to
the United States of America.
Mexican citizens and legal residents may purchase new non-military
firearms for self-protection or hunting only after receiving approval of
a petition to the Defense Ministry, which performs extensive background
checks. The allowed weapons are restricted to relatively low-caliber
and can be purchased from the Defense Ministry only.
THIRD place went to
THE UNITED STATES,
but only by 2 victims. Americans killed 14,748 Americans last year, if we can believe such a low number. We'll revisit these stats and see which "race" fared highest in this carnage a little later....you're going to be surprised, I bet.
The USA had 14,748 reported homicides, but
COLUMBIA had 14,746, just 2 less. Now, had it been MY choice on this, I'd have given 3rd place to COLUMBIA, because, let's face it, America does a better job of keeping track of murders than probably most other nations on earth, but the U.N. decided to give 3rd place to America...so let it be written, so let it be done...siiiiiiiigh.
THIRD PLACE IN INTERNATIONAL CITIZEN-ON-CITIZEN MURDERS WENT TO
ASIA, OF COURSE, FOR THEIR 127,000 AND A FEW HOMICIDES, BUT AGAIN, MAYBE A SURPRISE OR TWO IN THOSE STATS.
INDIA was the overwhelming, hands-down "winner" in Asia, with a whopping 42,923 murders amongst their citizenry. That's almost 3 times the number in the USA, and 1/4th the number of the entire continent of Africa!
I was very surprised by this, mainly because
INDIA prohibits "assault weapons"!
The Arms Act of 1959 and the Arms Rules 1962 of India
prohibits the sale, manufacture, possession, acquisition, import,
export and transport of firearms and ammunition unless under a license
and is a stringent process.
The Arms Act classifies firearms into two categories: Prohibited Bore
(PB) and Non-Prohibited Bore (NPB), where semi-automatic and fully
automatic firearms fall under the Prohibited Bore category.

INDONESIA has been called "the Socialist gun CONTROL Paradise of Asia" by those who advocate a citizen's right to bear arms, because in INDONESIA, ONLY the elite in the ruling government, police and military have the "right" to own guns. Citizens, average citizens, face death and are guaranteed prison If they're caught with guns. Even those who ARE allowed to file for gun licenses (military, police politicians) must pass very restrictive regulations and background checks, or so says the government there. <WINK, WINK!>
PAKISTAN took 3rd place in Asia away from
CHINA by only a few hundred victims, 13,860 in Pakistan as opposed to CHINA's 13,410.
Now we know CHINA will NOT tolerate gun ownership among its citizens, and breaking that law will get you at least a mandatory 3 years in prison or the maximum penalty....DEATH.

EUROPE MADE A VERY "POOR" SHOWING IN THE MURDER CATEGORY, NOT EVEN PLACING IN THE TOP 3, LET'S LOOK AT EUROPE FOR JUST A WEE BIT.
RUSSIA was grouped in with Europe, which doesn't seem quite right, but going with the cursed U.N., we see that Russians killed 14,574 other Russians in 2012, just a few less than total murders here in America.
You may be surprised to know that Russian citizens can buy ONLY smooth-bore long-barreled firearms and
pneumatic weapons with up to 25 joules of power. The use of
long-barreled weapons for purposes of self-defense is prohibited. An
individual may NOT possess guns that shoot in bursts or have more than a
ten-cartridge capacity.
Let that sink in...Russia has stricter gun control than America....for now.
Neighboring
UKRAINE would have occupied the #2 spot and reported 2,356 homicides in 2012.
In Ukraine a license is required to own firearms, but handguns are not allowed except in rare cases. ONLY IF a citizen is:
- 21 years of age (18 if the license is for hunting)
- has no criminal record
- has no history of domestic violence
- has no mental illness or history of mental illness
- proves good reason (target shooting, hunting, collection)
Concealed carry licenses are not issued unless a threat to life is present and can be proven.
FRANCE and
GERMANY were almost tied for the #3 spot in Europe, and we know how restrictive their gun laws are, but with fewer than 1,000 murders in each of those 2 nations, we don't have to worry about them placing any higher for a long time maybe.
Well, let's turn back to the USA, briefly...

For violent crime BY RACE in 2011 (I'm still searching for 2012 stats and will update this when I find them),
59.4% of those arrested were white, 38.3% were black, and
2.2% were of "other races".
For persons arrested for homicide in 2011,
49% were black, 48.3% were white, and 2.3% were of "other races".
For persons arrested for rape in 2011,
65% were white, 32.9% were black, and 2.1% were of other races.
For property crime in 2011,
68.1% of arrested persons were white, 29.5% were black, and 2.4% were of other races.
In 2011, law enforcement reported
6,222 bias-motivated incidents, known as hate crimes, for which 5,731 offenders were identified. Of these,
59% were white, 20.9% were black, 7.1% were of "other races", 1.4% were Asian or Pacific Islanders, 0.8% were Native American, and 10.8% were of "unidentified race".

AMERICA...
If gun control were effective, Chicago would be the safest city in the
country.
Prior to 2013, Illinois was the only state where carrying a
concealed weapon was illegal. Despite a history of strict gun policies,
Chicago was and remains one of the nation’s most violent and deadly cities. In 2012,
there were over 500 gun-related deaths in Chicago. That is
UP over 10 percent from the rate in 2005. Gun control is clearly not working in the Windy City.
Data from 2008 in Chicago
show that 81% of homicides were committed with guns and that 91% of homicide offenders had a prior arrest record.
ENGLISH TRANSLATION:
CRIMINALS BOUGHT GUNS ON THE STREET AND SHOT UNARMED CITIZENS WITH THEM...CRIMINALS CAN ALWAYS FIND GUNS TO BUY AND THEY WILL ALWAYS BE ABLE TO BUY THEM...UNLIKE LAW ABIDING CHICAGOANS!
BUT...BUT then SURELY cities that ALLOW liberal gun ownership have MUCH

LET'S LOOK AT HOUSTON, TEXAS...A GUN-TOTING TOWN IF EVER THERE WAS ONE.
Houston is similar to Chicago in socioeconomic factors like population,
density, and racial segregation. Both cities are plagued with drugs and
human trafficking. Chicago and Houston are America’s third and fourth
most populous cities, each with between 2 and 3 million
residents. Non-whites make up 50-60 percent of the population in both
places, and the poverty levels in each city are almost identical at just
under 30 percent. Yet in 2012, there were only 217
murders in Houston,
LESS THAN HALF of Chicago’s death toll.
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CHICAGO AND HOUSTON?
HOUSTON HAS VERY FEW "GUN LAWS"!
Guns don't have to be registered, no permit required to buy a gun, you don't need a permit to carry your "long gun" in your vehicle in most places, there are NO bans on "assault weapons", a person may carry a loaded handgun without a permit while in or heading
directly to a motor vehicle or watercraft they own or control,.
TEXAS HAS IT FIGURED OUT!
Criminals there know that many citizens are well armed for
self-protection.
IF YOU'LL GO READ THE "BRADY CAMPAIGN" SCORES,
the nation's largest citizens' lobby to prevent gun violence, YOU WILL FIND THAT THE TOP 10 STATES WITH THE MOST RESTRICTIVE GUN LAWS ALSO HAVE THE HIGHEST RATES OF CRIME!
" In other words,
stricter gun laws correlate with higher violent crime rates."
AGAIN,

HOW CAN WE EXPLAIN THAT?
Well, the "Brady Bunch" can likely explain it, but they can't make it FACTUAL.
Year after year, the Brady Campaign’s state gun control scorecards have
become the laughing stock of the gun control debate for at least three
reasons.
First, they typically give
good scores to states that have
high
crime rates and
bad scores to states that have
low rates. The Brady
Campaign’s scores aren’t based on whether anyone gets murdered, raped,
robbed, or beaten in any particular state; the group is just happy if
the state has its favorite gun control laws on the books. The Brady Campaign gave its best score—81 points out of 100—to
California, where the total violent crime, murder, robbery, and
aggravated assault rates were higher than national rates in 2010, the
most recent full year reported by the FBI.
As usual, the Brady Campaign didn’t rate the District of Columbia—not
because D.C. isn’t a state, but because D.C.’s gun laws are so
restrictive that it would get more than 100 points, BUT CRIME IS RAMPANT THERE, which would throw
off the rest of the scoring system. IN JUNE 2013, THE TOP 5 CRIME CITIES WAS ANNOUNCED BY THE WALL STREET JOURNAL (SEE

IN WASHINGTON D.C., OUR NATION'S CAPITOL, THE GUN BAN FAILED!

unfortunately take place in pretend "gun-free zones," such as schools,

the Force Science Research Center at Minnesota State University-Mankato,
active shooters are different from the gangsters and other street
toughs whom a police officer might engage in a gunfight. They are
predominantly weaklings and cowards who crumble easily as soon as an
armed person shows up.
The problem is that by the time the
police arrive, lots of people are already dead. So when armed citizens
are on the scene, many lives are saved.
The media rarely mention the
mass murders that were thwarted by armed citizens at the Shoney's
Restaurant in Anniston, Ala. (1991), the high school in Pearl, Miss.
(1997), the middle-school dance in Edinboro, Penn. (1998), and the New
Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colo. (2007), among others.
At the Clackamas Mall in Oregon last week, an active shooter murdered
two people and then saw that a shopper, who had a handgun carry permit,
had drawn a gun and was aiming at him. The murderer's next shot was to
kill himself.
Pretend gun-free zones, where law-abiding adults (who pass a
fingerprint-based background check and a safety training class) are
still disarmed, are magnets for evildoers who know they will be able to
murder at will with little threat of being fired upon.
People who are serious about preventing
the next Newtown should embrace much greater funding for mental health,
strong laws for civil commitment of the violently mentally ill—and stop
kidding themselves that pretend gun-free zones will stop killers.>>
