"A joint study by Kyoto University and the University ofTsukuba, among other entities, estimated that water at the mouth of the Abukumagawa river running through the prefecture was contaminated with cesium levels over 50 billion becquerels a day.

The findings showed that the Abukumagawa river is releasing up to 52.4 billion becquerels of cesium per day into the sea, the report said.

The study indicates that over a period of two days the amount of cesium being discharged by the river would exceed the total amount released by Tokyo Electric Power Company, operator of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, in an operation to drain contaminated water in April.(2011)  

The estimated levels near Date, a city situated at the middle reaches of the river, were 92.5 billion becquerels a day for cesium-137 and 83.8 billion becquerels a day for cesium-134.

The researchers said cesium is continuing to contaminate the river water after it fell to the the ground in the watershed area and was carried into the river by rainfall.
More cesium could contaminate the river during decontamination operations and tilling of rice paddies in preparation for transplanting young rice plants, they added."

Japan: Radiation in Fukushima's rivers and coasts

“The extremely high levels of radioactivity we found along the river systems highlights the enormity and longevity of both the environmental contamination and the public health risks resulting from the Fukushima disaster,” saidKashiwagi, Energy Campaigner at Greenpeace Japan.

Riverbank sediment samples taken along the Niida River in Minami Soma, measured as high as 29,800 Bq/kg for radiocaesium (Cs-134 and 137). The Niida samples were taken where there are no restrictions on people living, as were other river samples.

At the estuary of the Abukuma River in Miyagi prefecture, which lies more than 90km north of the Fukushima Daiichi plant, levels measured in sediment samples were as high as 6,500 Bq/kg.


The lifting of evacuation orders in March 2017 for areas that remain highly contaminated is a looming human rights crisis and cannot be permitted to stand.

The vast expanses of contaminated forests and freshwater systems will remain a perennial source of radioactivity for the foreseeable future, as these ecosystems cannot simply be decontaminated.  
JUST AS IT WAS AT CHERNOBYL, BUT CHERNOBYL WAS CONTAINED AND JAPAN HAS SAID IT MAY BE 40 TO 100 YEARS BEFORE THEY CAN CONTAIN FUKUSHIMA'S LEAKS.  


Caesium-137 has a half life of 30 years, and will continue to pose a risks to the the environment and human health for hundreds of years. 
 
Cs-137 contamination in seabed samples near the Fukushima plant was measured at up to 120 Bq/kg – compared to levels pre-2011 of 0.26 Bq/kg.

Further, the levels of contamination found 60km south of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant were comparable with those found within 4km of the plant.

Numerous marine science investigations, have concluded that these higher levels are one explanation for some marine species still showing higher cesium levels than the background levels in seawater.

“In addition to the ongoing contamination from forests and rivers, the vast amount of radioactivity onsite at the destroyed nuclear plant remains one of the greatest nuclear threats to Fukushima coastal communities and the Pacific Ocean.

The hundreds of thousands of tonnes of highly contaminated water, the apparent failure of the ice wall to reduce groundwater contamination, and the unprecedented challenge of three molten reactor cores all add up to a nuclear crisis that is far from over,” said Ulrich.

A radiation survey team onboard the research vessel Asakaze, supported by the Greenpeace flagship Rainbow Warrior, conducted underwater survey work along the Fukushima coastline from 21 February to 11 March this year, as well collecting samples in river systems.

The samples were measured at an independent laboratory in Tokyo.

"The exercise of government and control by military authorities over the civilian population of a designated territory.

Martial law is an extreme and rare measure used to control society during war or periods of civil unrest or chaos. According to the Supreme Court, the term martial law carries no precise meaning (Duncan v. Kahanamoku, 327 U.S. 304, 66 S. Ct. 606, 90 L. Ed. 688 [1946]). However, most declarations of martial law have some common features. Generally, the institution of martial law contemplates some use of military force. To a varying extent, depending on the martial law order, government military personnel have the authority to make and enforce civil and criminal laws. Certain civil liberties may be suspended, such as the right to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures, freedom of association, and freedom of movement. And the writ of Habeas Corpus may be suspended (this writ allows persons who are unlawfully imprisoned to gain freedom through a court proceeding).

In the United States, martial law has been instituted on the national level only once, during the Civil War, and on a regional level only once, during World War II. Otherwise, it has been limited to the states. Uprisings, political protests, labor strikes, and riots have, at various times, caused several state governors to declare some measure of martial law.

Martial law on the national level may be declared by Congress or the president. Under Article I, Section 8, Clause 15, of the Constitution, Congress has the power "[t]o provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress insurrections and repel Invasions." Article II, Section 2, Clause 1, of the Constitution declares that "[t]he President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States." Neither constitutional provision includes a direct reference to martial law. However, the Supreme Court has interpreted both to allow the declaration of martial law by the president or Congress. On the state level, a governor may declare martial law within her or his own state. The power to do so usually is granted in the state constitution.

H.R. 5122, also known as the John Warner National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2007 was a bill passed in the United States Congress on September 29, 2006 and signed by President George W. Bush on October 17, 2006 becoming Public Law 109-364. House Vote - 396 Ayes (168 Democrats/1 Independent) with 31 Nays and 5 present not voting.

Expansion of the President's power to declare martial law under revisions to the Insurrection Act, and take charge of United States National Guard troops without state governor authorization when public order has been lost and the state and its constituted authorities cannot enforce the law (amended in 2008 by H.R.4986 SEC.1068);

   Sec. 333. Interference with State and Federal law
    `The President, by using the militia or the armed forces, or both, or by any other :means, shall take such measures as he considers necessary to suppress, in a State, any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy,

Public Law 109-364, or the “John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007″ (H.R.5122) (2), which was signed by the commander in chief on October 17th, 2006, in a private Oval Office ceremony, allows the President to declare a “public emergency” and station troops anywhere in America and take control of state-based National Guard units without the consent of the governor or local authorities, in order to “suppress public disorder.”


President Bush seized this unprecedented power on the very same day that he signed the equally odious Military Commissions Act of 2006.
In a sense, the two laws complement one another.
One allows for torture and detention abroad, while the other seeks to enforce acquiescence at home, preparing to order the military onto the streets of America.

Remember, the term for putting an area under military law enforcement control is precise; the term is “martial law.”

ALL OF CONGRESS, AT THAT TIME, VIOLATED THEIR OATHS OF OFFICE BY ALLOWING THIS "ACT" TO HAPPEN.

US UNDER MARTIAL LAW SINCE THE CIVIL WAR

"Any time entities in power want to do something that is illegal under the Constitution, they go simply ahead with it under the principle of the martial law declared by Lincoln.
That is how the Executive Orders are presented.
They are Executive Orders based on martial law that has not been lifted.
This is also referred to as admiralty law."

"Congressional Globe" concerning H.R. 1328 which established the Department of Justice to CONTINUE TO CARRY OUT MARTIAL LAW nearly five years after the end of the Civil War:
Further proof that martial law remained in effect after the Civil War can be found in the "Congressional Globe" (now called the "Congressional Record").  The following are excerpts from the April 20th through 29th, 1870 "Congressional Globe" concerning H.R. 1328 which established the Department of Justice to CONTINUE TO CARRY OUT MARTIAL LAW nearly five years after the end of the Civil War:
"The following bureaus shall be established in this department [the Department of Justice]:  a Bureau of International Law, a Bureau of Revenue Law, a Bureau of Military and Naval Law, a Bureau of Postal Law, a Bureau of Land Management Law."
Congressman Lawrence then said in the record:

   "This Bill, however, does transfer to the Law Department, or the Department of Justice as it is now called, the cognizance of all subjects of martial law, and the cognizance of all subjects of military and naval law, except that portion of the administration of military justice which relates to military court martial, their proceedings, and the supervision of records.

   "If a question of martial law is to be determined by the law officers of  government, it will now belong to the Attorney General, or to this Department of Justice.  It will not belong to the Judge Advocate General of  the Army.  He will not be called upon for any opinion relating to martial law or military law except as to that portion of the administration of  military law which relates to military justice.

NO "CONSPIRACY THEORY", JUST EASILY FOUND  FACTS.
Peter Dale Scott highlighted how such “new programs” were a continuation of martial law provisions that first came to light during the Iran Contra scandal in the 1980’s.
Scott also made the connection to former Attorney General John Ashcroft’s 2002 call for U.S. citizens to be detained as enemy combatants in detention camps, (PDF FILE) a story also considered not “too silly to discuss” by the Los Angeles Times’ Jonathan Turley, a professor of law at The George Washington University Law School.

The government spied on American citizens (even before 9/11 … confirmed here and here), while saying “we don’t spy”. The government tortured prisoners in Iraq, but said “we don’t torture”.
In other words, high-level government officials have conspired to cover up the truth.
The bottom line is that the power of the state is used to crush criticism of major government policies and actions (or failures to act) and high-level government officials.
Pay attention, and you’ll notice that criticism of “conspiracy theories” is usually aimed at attempting to protect the state and key government players. The power of the state is seldom used to crush conspiracy theories regarding people who are not powerful . . . at least to the extent that they are not important to the government.

What the mainstream still fails to grasp is the fact that the majority of Americans no longer trust them, so the sophomoric catchphrases just aren’t going to get the job done anymore.
A September 2009 Pew Research Center poll found, “Trust in news media has reached a new low, with record numbers of Americans saying reporting is inaccurate, biased and shaped by special interests.”
The poll found that just 29% of Americans still trusted the corporate media.
By labeling manifestly provable facts, such as the absolutely self-evident and admitted push for a system of global governance called for repeatedly in mainstream media interviews by Ban Ki Moon, as “conspiracy theories” and claiming they are false, the corporate media is only committing seppuku and dispensing with any credibility they had left."

What Is the Threshold for Martial Law?

"People tolerate extreme police powers when they seem temporary.

The martial law after Katrina gave way to more civilized policing, such as it is in New Orleans.
But what if the emergency persists?
What if the U.S. becomes home to a crime plausibly labeled terrorism every couple months—can we expect a state of constant siege?
Even then, the threat to any given American would be very statistically low. Yet the gruesomeness and horror could legitimize all sorts of overreaction.
We see the danger inherent in state power.
Yes, the lockdown will eventually ratchet back, but I fear this is only a hint of what is to come.

On the one hand, we can say the suspect allegedly committed a particularly insidious crime and poses an especially frightening threat, and so the police reaction is either no cause for alarm, or at least something that will pass.

On the other hand, all it took was a couple people with a couple bombs made from pressure cookers, and they managed to provoke the kind of full-scale lockdown you’d expect in response to a genuine invasion by a fully armed and manned military force.
 
 Monday showed us how fragile life and social tranquility are.

Today shows us how fragile liberty is."

FROM MUSSELS TO WHALES, FROM URCHINS TO SEA BIRDS, SALMON TO POLAR BEARS, THE PACIFIC'S INHABITANTS ARE DYING OF CANCER AND WE ARE EXPECTED TO BELIEVE THIS IS DUE TO A "NEW FORM" OF CANCER WHICH SPREADS FROM ONE SPECIES TO ALL OTHERS. 

"In all the years I've been fishing I never caught any fish like this," said LEO volunteer Sam Kunaknana. "Caught 3 more sick fish with same markings and this time one had some kind of growths coming out from its mouth."

Other fish showing mysterious tumors include Pacific herring and Canadian whitefish. The growths have also been commented on by fishermen and marine biologists.

And it's not just Alaskan fish, but marine life all across the Pacific. Mysterious tumors have been observed in everything from shrimp and sea stars to sea lions and walruses. Polar bears and marine mammals have also been observed demonstrating unexplained hair loss, an early symptom of radiation poisoning.

Further afield, biologists recently discovered two disturbing firsts in the waters off Australia. In one case, reported in the Journal of Fish Diseases, a great white shark was found to have a tumor a foot long and a foot wide protruding from its mouth.

"This was a very unusual sight as we have never before seen a white shark with tumors," said study co-author Rachel Robbins.

Indeed, sharks had been believed to be mostly immune to tumors. Yet, recently, researchers also discovered a tumor on the head of a bronze whaler shark, also in Australian waters.

The other first was the discovery of human-style skin cancer on a coral fish in Australia's Great Barrier Reef."

"But even after the immediate crisis eased, scientists have continued to find radioactive contamination in the waters off the plant. Ken Buesseler, a senior scientist with the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution who has analyzed thousands of samples of fish from the area, said he’s continued to find the high levels of cesium-134, a radioactive isotope that decays rapidly.

That indicates it’s still being released. "It’s getting into the ocean, no doubt about it," he said. "The only news was that they finally admitted to this."

In a 2012 study, Jota Kanda, an oceanographer at Toyko University of Marine Science and Technology, calculated that the plant is leaking 0.3 terabecquerels (trillion becquerels) of cesium-137 per month and a similar amount of cesium-134.

The level of radioactive contamination that the plant was spewing in the immediate aftermath of the disaster, estimated to be from 5,000 to 15,000 terabecquerels, according to Buesseler.

For a comparison, the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima released 89 terabecquerels of cesium-137 when it exploded.  


AND TRITIUM?
Another potential worry: The makeup of the radioactive material being leaked by the plant has changed. Buesseler said the initial leak had a high concentration of cesium isotopes, but the water flowing from the plant into the ocean now is likely to be proportionally much higher in strontium-90.
The tanks (on the plant site) have 100 times more strontium than cesium, Buesseler said. He believes that the cesium is retained in the soil under the plant, while strontium and tritium, another radioactive substance, are continuing to escape.

What has been released from the Fukushima reactors and how dangerous is it?

Releases from the Fukushima reactors have included dozens of radioactive elements, but with regard to materials released into the ocean, most of the attention has been on three radioactive isotopes released in large amounts: iodine-131, cesium-137, and cesium-134.
Cesium-137, for example, has a half-life of 30 years and so, depending on its concentration, is a potentially serious health threat for decades or centuries.
Iodine-131, on the other hand, has a half-life of just 8 days and so loses much of its potency after just days and effectively disappears after one to two months.
[IT DISAPPEARS ONLY IF IT IS NOT BEING PUMPED INTO THE ENVIRONMENT EVERY DAY, AS IT IS FROM FUKUSHIMA.]

Another radionuclide of concern, cesium-134, has a half-life of two years...

Strontium-90 has a half-life of 29 years—nearly identical to that of cesium-137...

Plutonium was also released from Fukushima, but in concentrations even lower than strontium.

Looking ahead, levels of any Fukushima contaminants along the West Coast of North America are predicted to peak around 2015 or 2016...

Direct collection and analysis of radionuclides in water samples is the best way to determine how much contamination is in the ocean that poses an exposure risk to people and marine life.

Most fish do not migrate far from their spawning grounds, which is why some fisheries off Fukushima remain closed. But some species, such as the Pacific bluefin tuna, swim long distances and could pick up cesium in their feeding grounds off Japan before crossing the Pacific. However, cesium is a salt like potassium, and it will begin to flush out of exposed fish soon after they enter waters with LOWER contamination FROM Fukushima."

The continued release of radionuclides from groundwater and leaking tanks at Fukushima nuclear power plants site needs to be watched closely, as the character or mix of radionuclides is changing. One example is the higher levels of strontium-90 contained in groundwater and in storage tanks that are leaking into the ocean. Because strontium-90 mimics calcium in humans and animals, it is taken up by and concentrated in bones, where it remains for long periods of time (it has a half-life of 29 years and it is is not replaced as quickly in the body as cesium).

What we see is that the levels of cesium in the ocean are decreasing faster than strontium near the Fukushima nuclear power plant site.

SO, MORE STRONTIUM IS INDEED BEING DUMPED INTO AND IS BEING DETECTED NOW THAN IN THE BEGINNING OF THIS DISASTER.
Given that strontium concentrates in bones, this radionuclide could become a larger concern in small fish such as sardines, which are often eaten whole.
Radiation levels in seafood should continue to be monitored, of course.

February 29, after his Nevada win: Trump brags that he is “number one with Hispanics.” Except 93 percent of the Latinos in Nevada did not  support Trump. A Washington Post-Univision poll in February found that 80% of registered Hispanic voters viewed Trump unfavorably.

In reality, BBB received multiple consumer complaints about Trump university, which sank to a D-minus in 2010. The reason Trump University rose to an A in July 2014 was that as the company looked to be closing after 2013, no new complaints were reported.
Complaints over three years old automatically rolled off of the business review, according to BBB policy.
Further, Trump University was never been a BBB-accredited business.

THE COLORADO AND WASHINGTON STATE DELEGATIONS WALKED OUT, AS DID OTHERS, AND THE GOVERNOR OF OHIO, WHERE THE CONVENTION IS BEING HELD, CHOSE NOT TO ATTEND.

NEITHER PAST PRESIDENT BUSH ATTENDED, JEB BUSH HAD ALREADY LEFT THE PARTY MONTHS AGO AND DADDY BUSH AND JUNIOR WERE THREATENING TO DO THE SAME.

MARCO RUBIO WAS A NO-SHOW AND PAUL RYAN WAS THERE "ONLY BECAUSE HE HAS TO BE" AS SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE.

JOHN BOEHNER WAS NOT EVEN THINKING OF ATTENDING, NOR WAS MITT ROMNEY OR JOHN MCCAIN.

AND, BELIEVE IT OR NOT, SOME DELEGATES DIDN'T EVEN SHOW UP.
NEITHER DID HIS DAUGHTER'S RABBI, WHO HAD BEEN SCHEDULED TO APPEAR AT THE OPENING CEREMONIES.
THE LIST OF NO-SHOWS AND MISSING IN ACTION, BIG NAME REPUBLICANS IS GROWING.

Kendal Unruh, a conservative Colorado Delegate and Rules Committee member, is founder of  "Free the Delegates".
Working with Mike Lee, Kendal and other conservatives presented several amendments based on Republican principles to the GOP Rules Committee, including her conscience amendment, that would express the right of delegates to vote their consciences at the convention.
All were defeated at the committee meeting, in a proceeding marked by questionable rules of order and arbitrary vote counts.

TRUMP ALSO PULLED OFF GETTING THE NOMINATION WITHOUT REVEALING HIS INCOME, HIS TAX RETURNS, SOMETHING MANY SAID HE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO HIDE, BUT, SO FAR, SO GOOD FOR TRUMP.
MAYBE LATER THE LIES HE'S TOLD ABOUT HIS "INCREDIBLE INCOME" WILL ALSO COME TO LIGHT AND HIS 'ADVISERS' HAVE WRNED HIM IT WILL NOT BE GOOD IF THE TAX RETURNS ARE 'LEAKED' TO THE PRESS AFTER HE SAID THEY ARE NOT AVAILABLE.

IT WON'T MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE TO ANY TRUMP SUPPORTER, JUST LIKE NOTHING REVEALED ABOUT HILLARY WOULD CHANGE HER FLOCK'S  MINDS.

It's all so strange this election because American voters REALLY don't like their choices.
A new Washington Post/ABC News poll, for example, finds 58% of voters are dissatisfied with the choice between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. 
Among those surveyed, 64% had an unfavorable view of Trump, while 54% felt unfavorably toward Clinton.

A new NBC News/Wall St. Journal survey offered a similar verdict: Trump was viewed favorably by 27% of those surveyed and unfavorably by 60%. That net negative rating of -33 points is the worst in the history of the poll.
But Clinton's image is only somewhat better: 34% positive, 56% negative.

Among registered voters who said they backed Trump, fewer than 4 in 10 in the ABC/Washington Post poll said they did so mainly because they supported him. The majority, 57%, said they mostly opposed Clinton.

On the other side, the picture is only slightly more optimistic: 44% who mainly supported Clinton, 54% who mostly opposed Trump.

As for who is winning, the new surveys all show a very close race: The NBC/Wall St. Journal poll has Clinton ahead 46%-41%. The Washington Post/ABC poll has her leading 47%-43%. Both leads are within the surveys' margins of error. 

Our own (LOS ANGELES TIMES) USC Dornsife/L.A. Times Daybreak poll, which tracks voter preferences daily, now has the two effectively tied, Trump 42%, Clinton 41%. The small lead that Trump had in the poll last week appears to have dwindled."

The list of companies that aren’t sponsoring at all includes NBCUniversal, Macy’s, NASCAR, Serta, ESPN, the PGA of America, JP Morgan Chase, Wells Fargo, United Parcel Service, Motorola, Apple, Univision,  and Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc.

Apple specifically referred to his statements about immigrants, people of color, and women as the reason for not sponsoring the convention.

NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump,” the company said.

The company who manufacture's Trump's clothing line has backed off.
On July 7, PVH Corp, which manufactures Trump's clothing line for Macy's, said it will begin to wind down the brand, Forbes reports.

Even New York City, where the Trump Organization is based, is beginning to question its relationship with Trump.

“We are reviewing Trump contracts with the City," Mayor Bill de Blasio said in a statement on July 1. "Donald Trump’s remarks were disgusting and offensive, and this hateful language has no place in our city.
Coca-Cola has declined to match the $660,000 it provided to the Republican convention in 2012.
