Samra Kesinovic, 17, (on the left above) who fled to Syria along with her friend Sabina Selimovic (pictured on the right), was beaten to death by ISIS henchmen after she was caught attempting to flee Syria .
Kesinovic and Selimovic became infamous shortly after arriving in Syria in 2014, when they were portrayed by Islamic State propaganda as "poster girls" for the movement.
"We received information just recently about two 15-year-old girls, of Bosnian origin, who left Austria, where they had been living in recent years," according to David Scharia, a senior expert of the United Nations Security Council's Counter-Terrorism Committee.
"Both were recruited by Islamic State.
One was killed in Syria, the other has disappeared," he added.
His confirmation comes three months after the Austrian government said it had informed both sets of parents of the girls that one of them might have been killed, The Daily Mail reported.
According to UN estimates, as many 130 Austrians have fled to Syria in order to join Islamic State, at least half of which are of Chechen origin granted asylum after years of conflict with Russia.
Austrian Interior Ministry spokesman Alexander Marakovits said that the country has recently seen an alarming increase in Austrian youth fleeing to Islamic State.
"If we can catch them before they leave we have the chance to work with their parents and other institutions to bring the youngsters out of the sphere of influence that prompted them to act in this way the first place," he said."Once they have left the country, even if they then changed their minds, it is then almost impossible to get them back," he added.
IT WAS REPORTED IN OCTOBER OF LAST YEAR, 2014, THAT BOTH GIRLS WERE PREGNANT, DISILLUSIONED AND WANTED TO RETURN HOME.
"The girls had started lecturing schoolmates about their lifestyle and when they left Vienna in April they left behind a note telling their parents: 'Don’t look for us. We will serve Allah – and we will die for him'.
Once they arrived it is believed they were married off to local fighters and both the girls are thought to be pregnant.
Police in their homeland Austria say that the girls' social media accounts were taken over and manipulated to broadcast what they now think were fake messages about the life they were having, and using them as poster girls to encourage other young girls to head to Syria.
The motivations of the two Bosnian girls are unclear but before leaving, they had contact with Chechen youths, and visited a mosque in Vienna's second district.
But security service insiders have told Austrian media that the girls have managed to contact their families to say they have had enough, and want to come home.
Austrian newspaper Oesterreich, which revealed that the girls now wanted to come home, is known to have close connections to those investigating the disappearance of the two girls and is in close contact with their families."
THE GREAT SADNESS OF THIS IS OVERWHELMING.WHO CAN TRULY IMAGINE THE ANGUISH OF THEIR PARENTS ?
WHAT BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN!
AT JUST 15 YEARS OLD WHEN THEY LEFT, THEY WERE CHILDREN...FOOLISH, YES, BUT TOO YOUNG TO DIE IN SUCH A HORRIBLE WAY.
MANY YOUNG GIRLS THIS AGE WHO WERE STOPPED BEFORE MAKING A SIMILAR ERROR HAVE SAID THEY FOUND "LOVE" ONLINE ON THE ISLAMIC STATE'S MANY WEB PAGES, WHERE IT IS COMMON FOR THEIR FIGHTERS TO 'ADVERTISE' FOR WIVES.
THEY FOUND THE TERRORISTS "EXCITING", HANDSOME, ENTICING, THEY SAID.
THEY "BELIEVED IN ISIS' CAUSE".
THEY WERE "MADE TO FEEL WANTED, NEEDED, IMPORTANT".
Romance, the lure of finding "true love"....there was a recent article in an Israeli news report that bemoaned the fact that even some Jewish young women had fallen prey to the "online seduction" by Muslim men, had fled to Arab villages to "marry" only to find themselves sex slaves...or be killed, as this Austrian girl was.
Once these young women are in the hands of ISIS madmen, there is almost never any hope of escape. Only a handful have managed to flee with their lives after seeing how mistaken they were for believing the "FAIRY TALE".
DEATH IS ALMOST ASSURED.
They find out that this "holy war" is not remotely "holy".
THEY FIND OUT QUICKLY THAT "MARRIAGE" IS A PLOY....BUT BY THEN, IT'S JUST TOO LATE.
PLEASE, SHARE THIS WHEREVER YOU CAN SO MAYBE OTHERS WILL TAKE HEED OF IT AND WON'T COME TO THE SAME FATE.
PARENTS, PLEASE SEE THE NEED TO BE INVOLVED IN WHERE YOUR TEENS GO ONLINE.
IT IS BETTER TO BE "UNPOPULAR" WITH YOUR CHILD THAN TO BE PLANNING A FUNERAL FOR A CHILD, OR SIT AND WONDER IF THAT CHILD IS DEAD IN THE MIDDLE EAST.
TWO ARTICLES, ONE BY 'ROLLING STONE' <HERE>, AND ANOTHER QUITE IN-DEPTH REPORT BY CNN <HERE>, SHOW HOW AMERICAN TEENS ARE BEING INDOCTRINATED, SEDUCED AND LURED TO THE MIDDLE EAST BY ISIS.
AND, YOUNG PEOPLE, IF YOU REALLY CARE FOR YOUR FRIENDS, IF YOU KNOW THEY ARE VISITING ISIS WEBSITES, MAKING PLANS TO LEAVE HOME, LET THESE TWO CONVINCE YOU THAT IT WOULD SAVE LIVES IF YOU SPOKE TO SOMEONE WHO COULD INTERVENE AND SAVE A PRECIOUS LIFE.
Hey Waninahi, The world has been busy, and the earth is moving. I missed my mother today, like clockwork she'd be on the phone twice a year, the rattle snakes where either going into or out of hybernation, be on the alert for them. Safety to you and those you love.
ReplyDeleteHey Waninahi, This one's for the column. My heart aches whenever I hear stories of those who have fallen into the hands of cruel masters. Even Black Beauty. Years ago one of my nursing clinicals was at a prison and nurse I was shawdowing talked about the nurse's/prison guards/secretaries, who had run off with, or even worse helped escape, convicts. "They sweet talk you", she told me. I can see how these girls wre lured away. We all want to be told we're nice, and that we are valued. I wonder what they heard their mother's say to them. Like it or not we all hear our mothers in the end, that's what I've been told from a lot of people who were actively engaged in the task of dying. I miss my mom, but I still hear her, last night I sensed her loud and clear. Twice a year like clock work she'd call warning the rattlesnakes were either going into to or out of hibernation. (central TX time) I enjoy your site. You cover the type of news I'm interested in, I don't necessarily agree with all of your opinions but that's what makes us special and unique; our opinions. I hope this finds you and yours in safe locations, earth wise, spirit wise. Margaret
ReplyDelete@Margaret, to you and yours, the same, and blessings like a summer rain. I reckon we all could do with a few of those always. My most beloved Grandfather left us on Thanksgiving day and tomorrow would mark my own anniversary, had that one not also walked on. But MUCH to be thankful for...so much. Every day is a gift, yes?
