INTENSE VOLCANIC LIGHTNING AT JAPANESE VOLCANO, APRIL 8, 2016

"The volcano continues to have relatively strong vulcanian-type explosions at varying rates between 0-3 or more per day, and again mostly from the Showa crater (on the upper eastern flank) "

JUST INCREDIBLE LIGHTNING EMANATED FROM JAPAN'S SAKURAJIMA 2 DAYS AGO WHEN IT VIOLENTLY ERUPTED AGAIN.

HAD TO SHARE THIS...

AS MANY MAY KNOW, THE ONLY 100% CURRENTLY ACTIVE NUCLEAR POWER PLANT IN JAPAN IS THE SENDAI FACILITY, WHICH LIES NEAR THIS VERY ACTIVE VOLCANO.
SENDAI, LIKE FUKUSHIMA ALSO LIES DIRECTLY ON THE SHORE OF THE OCEAN, SUSCEPTIBLE TO TSUNAMIS.

LIKE THE AREA OF THE FUKUSHIMA DAIICHI FACILITY, THE AREA AROUND SENDAI IS ALSO VERY, VERY SEISMICALLY ACTIVE, FREQUENT EARTHQUAKES.

WHEN JAPAN ALLOWED SENDAI TO RESTART, SENDAI ADMITTED IT HAD NO EMERGENCY PROCEDURE IN PLACE SHOULD VOLCANIC ASH SHUT DOWN THE REACTORS.

IT HAS NO EMERGENCY WARNING/EVACUATION PLAN FOR LOCAL RESIDENTS.
AND YET A JAPANESE HIGH COURT ALLOWED IT TO RESTART, OVERRULING A TEMPORARY INJUNCTION TO KEEP THE PLANT CLOSED!

FROM THE CHICAGO TRIBUNE:
APRIL 6, 2016

"The temporary injunction was filed in May 2014 by 12 residents in the prefectures of Kagoshima, Kumamoto and Miyazaki, who were among about 2,600 plaintiffs who filed a lawsuit demanding that operations of the Sendai nuclear power plant be stopped.

The Kagoshima District Court rejected the appeal in April last year, on the grounds that there were no irrational points in the NRA's new standards as well as the NRA's judgment that the Sendai plant meets the standards. The plaintiffs immediately appealed against the decision, taking the case to the high court.

Among lawsuits over nuclear power plants following the accident at the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant in 2011, there are three rulings that judged nuclear power plant operations should be stopped, including a ruling by the Otsu District Court in March."

FROM ONE OF JAPAN'S MAJOR NEWSPAPERS, ASAHI SHIMBUM, THIS 3 DAYS AGO ON APRIL 7, BEFORE THIS NEW ERUPTION:
"This ruling stands in sharp contrast with the Otsu District Court’s decision in March that raised doubts about the NRA’s safety standards and ordered the suspension of operations of two reactors at Kansai Electric Power Co.’s Takahama nuclear plant in Fukui Prefecture.

What happened in Fukushima has created strong anxiety among Japanese about the safety of nuclear power generation. From this point of view, it is obvious which of the two rulings really echoed the public sentiment about nuclear safety.

Symptomatic of the two courts’ different stances toward public concerns are their views about evacuation plans.

The new nuclear safety standards do not address issues related to evacuation plans.
The Otsu District Court raised questions about this fact and contended that the government is obliged to develop new regulatory standards based on a broader perspective that also address evacuation plans.

The Miyazaki branch acknowledged there are legitimate concerns about the existing plan for emergency evacuations.

The plaintiffs argued that the plan would be unable to deal with a situation that requires an immediate and massive evacuation.
They also said the number of buses available to transport local residents during nuclear crises would be insufficient.

The court ruling that endorses the NRA’s new safety standards does not translate into public support of the government’s policy to bring idled reactors back on stream.

But the court nevertheless dismissed the plaintiffs’claim that operating the Sendai reactors violates their personal rights."

GO FIGURE.

FROM THE ABOVE VIDEO:
April 8, 2016

"A large blast occurred in the early evening hours at Sakurajima Volcano in South Japan.

The volcanic eruption produced plumes of ash reaching multiple kilometers into the sky. The ascending ash produced impressive displays of static discharge lightning.

The lightning is produced by friction between the hot billowing clouds of ash, and the colder moist air surrounding the volcano which resides near the ocean in South Japan.

Credit to the JMA for these videos. "

A COUPLE OF LIVE CAMS CAN BE FOUND OF THIS VOLCANO AT
http://webcams.volcanodiscovery.com/Sakurajima

WHEN YOU SEE THE CAM FROM KYOTO UNIVERSITY, OR ANY OF THE CAMS, CLICK ON THE BRACKETS FOR 100% MAGNIFICATION.

EVERY NOW AND THEN, THE VOLCANO APPEARS TO THROW UP A BOULDER(???) OR SOMETHING, JUST A FLASH BEFOREHAND THEN GONE.

IF ANYONE ELSE SEES THAT, LEAVE A COMMENT, PLEASE.

IT'S REALLY "STEAMING" RIGHT NOW...

THE TARUMI MBC WEBCAM IS ALSO QUITE GOOD.
GOOD IMAGES, BOTH THE KYOTO U. & THIS ONE.

BTW, A NEW TECHNIQUE OF PHOTOGRAPHY CALLED THE "AUTORADIOGRAPH" HAS MADE RADIATION VISIBLE.

AS YOU CAN SEE, RADIATION LEAVES ITS MARK ON EVERYTHING, ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING.
"This collection of radiographic images (autoradiographs) is the first in history to be created for objects exposed to radiation resulting from a nuclear accident.

Through exhibitions and other means of disseminating knowledge about radioactivity, future generations may learn to leave behind dependence on nuclear power and be free from the dangers of nuclear accidents and nuclear waste. "
