BUT WILL WE LEARN FROM TEPCO OR THE JAPANESE GOVERNMENT WHAT DAMAGE IT DID TO THE DAIICHI #1 FACILITY?
WHAT ABOUT DAIICHI #2?
AFTER ALL, IN OCTOBER 2013, FOLLOWING TYPHOON WIPHA, THERE WAS DAMAGE WITH AN ENSUING HUGE SPIKE IN RADIATION LEVELS, ESPECIALLY FOR STRONTIUM, THERE.
AGAIN, IN OCTOBER, 2014, TYPHOON PHANFONE HIT THE FUKUSHIMA PREFECTURE WITH WAVES AS HIGH AS 37 FEET.
REMEMBER THAT THE TSUNAMI THAT TOOK OUT THE REACTORS IN 2011 WAS ONLY ABOUT 15 FEET IN HEIGHT.
Typhoon Nangka was described as particularly slow-moving, the kind of storm that can wreak most damage.
Fears of landslides prompted the government of Kochi Prefecture on Thursday to advise over 4,000 residents to evacuate their homes.
EACH TIME TYPHOONS BLOW THROUGH THERE THE RADIATION PLUME GOES WITH IT.
REMEMBER HOW DESPERATE RESIDENTS NEAR CHERNOBYL WERE WHEN THOSE RECENT WILDFIRES KICKED UP AND CARRIED RADIOACTIVE DEBRIS FOR MILES AND MILES?
WHAT'S JAPAN EVER GOING TO DO TO BURY THAT FACILITY SO WEATHER AND FIRE CAN'T AFFECT DAIICHI?
JAPAN, ESPECIALLY THE AREA NEAR TOKYO, INCLUDING FUKUSHIMA PREFECTURE, IS EXPERIENCING HIGH TYPHOON WINDS, DOWNPOURS, AND, OH, LOOK!
ADD A SERIES OF "MINOR" EARTHQUAKES, MAYBE ONLY A DOZEN OR SO IN A DAY...
THAT'S SORT OF BEEN ONGOING SINCE MAY, THOUGH, AND THE FOLLOWING WAS REPORTED LAST MONTH...
THINGS ARE SHAKY, TO SAY THE LEAST.
BAD NEWS FOR FAILING STRUCTURES AT DAIICHI.
WITH THE MATERIAL SURROUNDING THE "FUBAR" REACTORS BEING STEADILY REDUCED TO POWDER EACH DAY DUE TO UNFATHOMABLE AMOUNTS OF RADIATION, ADD TYPHOONS, ADD EARTHQUAKES, ADD THE BLATANT ONGOING INEPTITUDE OF EVERYONE ASSOCIATED WITH TEPCO AND THE JAPANESE GOVERNMENT, WHICH OWNS OVER HALF OF TEPCO, AND THE NUCLEAR AGENCIES WORLDWIDE JUST PLEASED AS PUNCH TO ALLOW THIS TO GO ON UNTIL WE'RE ALL GLOWING IN THE DARK, AND GUESS WHAT?
FUKUSHIMA KEEPS RIGHT ON FALLING DOWN.
EVEN THE 2-YEAR-OLD TEMPORARY HOUSING UNITS INSIDE FUKUSHIMA PREFECTURE ARE CRUMBLING...AFTER JUST 2 YEARS!
"At the temporary housing complexes in Fukushima Prefecture that serve as homes for those displaced by the Great East Japan Earthquake and ensuing nuclear disaster, degradation of the buildings is becoming a serious issue."
REPORTS BY RESIDENTS ALLOWED TO VERY BRIEFLY RETURN TO THEIR OLD HOMES NEARER THE DAIICHI FACILITY , AS WELL AS JOURNALISTS WHO HAVE BEEN ALLOWED IN, ALL SAY THE ABANDONED BUILDINGS ARE FALLING DOWN...HOMES, SHOPS, EVERYTHING.
BUT THAT'S JUST PART OF THE STORY.
IT HAS RECENTLY BEEN MADE PUBLIC THAT THE RADIOACTIVE FALLOUT WHICH WE WERE TOLD ALL FELL WITHIN THAT FIRST 4 DAYS, WAS STILL FALLING 2 WEEKS LATER!
<PSSST! IT'S STILL FALLING!>
AND, EVERYONE WHO BELIEVES THESE RECENT NUMBERS AFTER THE FIRST WAVE OF THIS NEW TYPHOON, STAND ON YOUR HEAD, WIGGLE YOUR EARS AND BARK LIKE A BIG DOG...
"...samples taken from the channel about 2 hours later contained 830 becquerels per liter of radioactive cesium [and] 1,100 becquerels of beta-ray emitting radioactive substances."
IT'S NATURE'S FAULT AGAIN.
A NEW "DISCLOSURE" HAPPENS, WHAT, ABOUT EVERY OTHER DAY?
IF TEPCO GETS BUSTED, "DISCLOSURES" COME SOONER.
SURPRISE, SURPRISE, NO SURPRISE.
HERE'S THE CURRENT EXPLANATION OF WHY THEY UNDERESTIMATED THAT FALLOUT FOUR, AS IN 4, YEARS AGO...IT'S A HUMDINGER!
"The experiment showed that water that was meant to prevent the meltdowns may have actually sustained them. Naitoh says the result shows that radioactive substances kept leaking out and spreading into the atmosphere."
AREN'T THEY STILL PUMPING WATER INTO THOSE FUEL POOLS?
SO, WHAT'S HAPPENING?
DEDUCTIVE REASONING MIGHT JUST SAY THE FALLOUT MUST BE CONTINUOUS, YES?
THE DAMNED ABOMINATION IS STILL EMITTING RADIATION THAT THEY HAVE TROUBLE REGISTERING ON TODAY'S INSTRUMENTS BECAUSE THERE'S SO MUCH OF IT, ALL THE TIME, AS IN 24/7/365, SO WHO'S KEEPING TRACK OF YESTERDAY'S FALLOUT, OR TODAY'S?
WHEN WILL WE "RECENTLY DISCOVER" HOW MUCH ACTUAL FALLOUT IS FALLING RIGHT NOW OUT OF THE SKY ALL OVER CREATION, THANK YOU, JAPANESE GOVERNMENT?
AND THANK YOU, EPA FOR NOT GIVING A TINKER'S EARTHEN DAM ABOUT U.S. CITIZENS, AND FOR SAVING US A BUNDLE OF BUCKS BY SHUTTING DOWN A COUPLE MORE MONITORING STATIONS.
WHY MONITOR WHAT CAN'T BE MONITORED, RIGHT?
IN RECENT VIDEOS AND IMAGES FROM SAME, IT LOOKS LIKE THEY'RE USING A CRANE TO PROP ONE BUILDING, OR, ACTUALLY, PIECE OF A BUILDING UP SO IT DOESN'T GO AHEAD AND FALL OVER.
THAT'S SURELY A CHEAP STOP-GAP MEASURE, BUT FOR HOW LONG?
THAT LITTLE STORY WAS CARRIED AT http://www.japantoday.com/category/national/view/heavy-equipment-falls-into-fukushima-reactor-pool AND IS GONE NOW, BUT COMMENTS ARE STILL THERE...GO HAVE A READ?
HERE'S ONE COMMENT:
"The original overhead crane used for moving the nuclear fuel is also in the cooling pool. TEPCO had removed much of the smaller debris.
Previously a steel girder was dropped in.
The top level of the No3 reactor building has been cleared of debris.
The radiation level is above 5 sieverts per hour which makes it impossible for any workers to be there so all the equipment is remotely operated."
The original overhead crane weighed more than 30 tons and will be a very difficult piece to remove from the pool.
IT'S ONE ERROR AFTER ANOTHER, BUT THE WORLD DOESN'T SEEM CONCERNED AT ALL.
SURE, LET LARRY, CURLY AND MO JUST KEEP PLAYING MR. FIXIT!
Why wasn't the fallout discovered until now?
THE ANSWER TO THAT MIGHT GO SOMETHING LIKE THIS:
BUT ONE OF TEPCO'S FINEST GAVE AN APOLOGY ABOUT NOT REPORTING THE INITIAL LEAKS INTO THE PACIFIC, THE DUMPING THAT WASN'T REVEALED FOR A YEAR, AND MADE A STATEMENT TO A JAPANESE NEWS AGENCY THAT RINGS AS HOLLOW AS A "FILL-IN-THE-BLANK" ANSWER/
Mar. 31, 2015
"Naohiro Masuda is in charge of the entire decommissioning process at Fukushima Daiichi.
He's faced criticism for a long delay in letting people know about radioactive water reaching the ocean.
TEPCO announced the leak almost a year after workers discovered it.
And Masuda didn't shy away from accepting the blame.
"I focused on finding out where the radioactive water was coming from and why, instead of sharing the information with the public. I greatly regret my decision and I want to apologize for how I handled it."
Naohiro Masuda / President, Fukushima Daiichi Decommissioning Company
[IT TOOK A YEAR TO FIGURE THAT OUT? NO WAY! YOU SIMPLY TRACK BACK AND THERE IT IS!]
Fukushima Daiichi still generates more than 300 tons of radioactive water EVERY DAY.
But Masuda says workers at the plant know how to handle it.
[THEY DUMP IT INTO THE PACIFIC LIKE THEY ALWAYS HAVE,THATS HOW THEY HANDLE IT!]
He discussed his plan to build a massive ice wall around the plant... to stop any more groundwater getting in... and getting contaminated.
Some experts have questioned whether that will work.
Masuda says he's confident it will.
"We've done some experiments at the plant on a smaller scale.
We built a 40-meter ice wall. And that proved successful. We managed to stop water entering the site. Now we are going to do it on a bigger scale, a 1,500 meter wall. I'm confident this will be just as effective as it was on a smaller scale."
[WELL, IT HAS NOT WORKED HAS IT? WRONG AGAIN! AND AGAIN, AND....]
Masuda's engineers have finished removing spent fuel from the No.4 reactor building.
He says the next step is to remove spent fuel from the No.3 reactor building.
"A hydrogen explosion left the number 3 reactor building full of radioactive rubble.
We've finished removing it.
[PHOTOS SHOW THAT STATEMENT IS JUST NOT TRUE!]
But radiation levels are still extremely high.
That's why we have to work remotely.
We've built cranes to do that work.
We're just waiting for the workers to finish cleaning up around the building so we can bring the cranes in."
Masuda says radiation in some areas of the crippled reactor buildings is still so high that workers can only stay there for a few minutes.
The hardest part of decommissioning the plant will be removing the fuel that's cooled and turned into highly radioactive debris.
"We have no idea about the debris, we don't know its shape or strength.
We have to remove it remotely from 30 meters above.
But we don't have that kind of technology yet. It simply doesn't exist."
Experts say workers will have to keep the debris submerged in water to prevent radiation from being released.
But Masuda says that's not as easy as it sounds.
"We still don't know whether it's possible to fill the reactor containers with water. We've found some cracks and holes in the three damaged container vessels.
But we don't know if we've found them all.
If it turns out there are other holes, we might have to look for some other way to remove the debris."
The government wants that work to BEGIN in 2020.
I asked Masuda how confident he is that he can hit that target and his answer was surprisingly candid.
"It's a very big challenge.
Honestly speaking, I cannot say it's possible but I also do not wish to say it's impossible."
I also asked Masuda what he needs most for the operation to succeed.
"That's hard to say, but probably experience.
How much radiation exposure can people tolerate?
What kind of information do residents in the area need?
There is no text book to teach us what to do.
I have to make decisions every step of the way.
And I must be honest with you... I cannot promise that I will always make the right decision."
AND ON WE GO...
TEPCO WAS "VOLUNTEERING" HOMELESS PEOPLE FOR THE CLEANUP AFTER
THEY RAN OUT OF WORKERS, OR SO WE WERE TOLD, BUT I THINK THEY'VE
CLEARED OUT THE HOMELESS POPULATION NICELY BY NOW?
SURELY THEIR ZOOS HAVE SOME CHIMPANZEES AVAILABLE?
AFTER ALL, THEIR ROBOTS DON'T LAST IN THERE BUT FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES TO A COUPLE OF HOURS.
EXTREMELY HIGH RADIATION LEVELS DO THAT TO MACHINERY, HIGH-TECH OR NOT.
ROBOT #1 DID TAKE SOME NICE PICS.
SEE SOME OF THEM <HERE>.
THEY REDEFINE "TOTAL CATASTROPHE".
Radiation inside the reactor 2 containment vessel at the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant has reached a lethal 73 sieverts per hour and any attempt to send robots in to accurately gauge the situation will require them to have greater resistance than currently available, experts said Wednesday.
The utility said the radiation level in the reactor 2 containment vessel is too high for robots, endoscopes and other devices to function properly.
Spokesman Junichi Matsumoto said it will be necessary to develop devices resistant to high radiation."
FOUR YEARS AFTER THE DISASTER, 73 SIEVERTS PER HOUR AND STEADILY CLIMBING!
WAY TO GO...YOU'VE DONE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO STOP THAT IN FOUR LONG YEARS!
HOW LONG FROM THE CHERNOBYL MELTDOWN UNTIL IT WAS COVERED OVER BY RUSSIA?
206 DAYS ....
LESS THAN A YEAR!
[Ebel, Robert E.;Center for Strategic and International Studies (Washington, D.C.) (1994). Chernobyl and its aftermath: a chronology of events (1994 ed.).]
"The sarcophagus locked in 200 tons of radioactive corium, 30 tons of highly contaminated dust and 16 tons of uranium and plutonium.
A decision to replace the sarcophagus with the New Safe Confinement was made, and a project to reconstruct the enclosure is underway. "
RUSSIA APPARENTLY WANTED TO HANDLE IT, MAYBE?
SO, AS I SAID, WITH THE TYPHOON AND HEAVY RAINS, TEPCO TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE SITUATION TO ANNOUNCE...WAIT FOR IT...ALL NEW RADIOACTIVE WATER LEAKS!
"The operator of the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant has found that radioactive water has overflowed from a drainage channel, spilling into the sea. This is due to heavy rain."
THAT WILL GO FAR IN EXPLAINING, IF ONLY WITH THEIR LAST, DYING BREATHS, HOW SO MUCH RADIOACTIVE RUNOFF AND LEAKS AND STUPID, REPEATED HUMAN ERROR COULD HAVE POSSIBLY RESULTED IN A DEAD PACIFIC OCEAN...AND SO MANY DYING HUMANS.
ONCE AGAIN, IT WAS "NATURE'S FAULT", AN "UNFORESEEN SERIES OF TRAGIC EVENTS"...NOT TEPCO'S FAULT, OH, NO!
THAT'S A LIE!
TEPCO WAS WARNED FOR YEARS ABOUT THAT LOW SEA WALL AND HOW INEFFECTIVE IT WOULD BE IF A TSUNAMI HIT.
"Last month, lawyers for plaintiffs in a damages suit said an internal Tokyo Electric document suggests the operator was aware of the need to take anti-tsunami measures before the 2011 disaster.
An internal document from 2008 shows that the operator “had clearly recognized, as of that year, that measures against tsunamis were inevitable, contradicting its explanations so far,” lawyer Yuichi Kaido told a hearing at the Tokyo District Court."
THEY WERE WARNED TO KEEP BACKUP GENERATORS HIGHER UP ON SAFE GROUND BEHIND THE PLANT.
"Tsunehisa Katsumata, who was then-president of Tokyo Electric, replied that relocation would be costly."
THEY WERE WARNED THAT A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER WOULD CAUSE EXACTLY WHAT WE SEE TODAY...
“Then I asked Mr Katsumata: ‘What if the plant went into meltdown?’ He got very angry and said, ‘No way that would happen,’”
Katsumata assured her that the operator would provide compensation if something like that happened. A Tokyo Electric spokesman declined to comment, saying only that Katsumata - who was chairman at the time of the disaster - no longer works for the company.
IT'S ALSO A LIE THAT THE DISPLACED AND THOSE WHO HAVE LOST FAMILY TO CANCERS, ETC, HAVE BEEN COMPENSATED.
THEY HAVE NO HOPE OF COMPENSATION!
In September 2013, the Tokyo prosecutors’ office dismissed charges of professional negligence against government officials and Tokyo Electric executives, including Katsumata.
Prosecutors said it was impossible to predict such a devastating earthquake and tsunami.
The decision came one year after a parliament-appointed investigative panel concluded that the world's worst nuclear crisis since the 1986 Chernobyl accident was "clearly a man-made disaster" caused by Tokyo Electric.
WHAT KEPT TEPCO FROM TAKING MEASURES TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THE PEOPLE THERE AND AROUND THE WORLD?
MONEY...PROFITS...JUST LIKE TODAY.
THEY WOULD RATHER KEEP AS MUCH $$$$$$$ AS THEY CAN THAN KEEP THE WORLD FROM GLOWING IN THE DARK.
THAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE.
BUT IF ENOUGH OF US RAISED ENOUGH PURE HELL WITH OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS, IF WE EACH COMPLAINED TO EVERY MAJOR NEWS MEDIA THAT THEY AREN'T DOING ENOUGH TO CALL ATTENTION TO ALL THIS, IF WE JUST DECIDED THAT'S ENOUGH AND MAYBE TOOK TO THE STREETS IN PROTEST EVERY DAY, JUST MAYBE THINGS WOULD CHANGE, SOMEONE WOULD FIND SOMEONE WHO CAN STOP THE MADNESS AT DAIICHI, STOP THE LIES AND THE INEPTITUDE.
IT'S A LONG SHOT, BUT RIGHT NOW, IT'S THE ONLY HOPE WE HAVE!
IF JUST ONE OF THOSE TEETERING RUST-BUCKET BUILDINGS FALL AND ITS REACTOR GOES BELLY-UP ON THE GROUND...
[MUTE YOUR SOUND...AUDIO IS A BIT GRATING.]
THE NEXT BIG BOOM WILL BE BIGGER.
WE HAVE TO HELP OURSELVES...OUR GOVERNMENTS ARE CONTENT TO DO NOTHING...BUT WE HAVE CHANGED GOVERNMENT MINDS BEFORE...
